Your thinking about Pachuca vs Dynamo in OT in Pachuca, away goals don´tcount in OT if I recall correctly.

There was no away goal rule at all in that tournament. That was the last year of the Champions' Cup.

CONCACAF makes so many changes so often that it is hard to keep up with them, how do I envy leagues in CONMEBOL and UEFA.

That is not true, we were eliminated by Saprissa in the CCC the next year.

Not trying to offend other leagues, but seeing Pachuca scoring 3 goals and almost scoring 5 more playing crap and seeing Cruz Azul right now winning 4-1 in Costa Rica, just proves that many MLS teams are not even half trying.

I agree with this. I see Dom as a loyal servant to the league. I respect him for that.

tell me you just didn't say that. you jinxed that sorry excuse for a team. They have given up on the MLS season like Mitsubishi on the WRC tour a few years back, focusing only on CCL and you had to go an jinx them.

Dom has specifically said that when the team gathers for the first day of training camp, their #1 goal is winning MLS Cup. why he says that, I'm not sure. you can say it's because he's a shill for the league and the FO, I would disagree. if you keep that in mind, the decisions he's made while dealing w/fixture congestion the past couple yrs make sense.

Anything can happen in a tournament like this, specially when you get to the 2 leg, loser goes home phase, look at the UEFA Champions League, the obvious outcome during the semifinals was to think that an English team was going to win the tournament, and Barcelona not only wnt to the championship game and won it all but in a convinving way.

Right now I also think that the obvious outcome is a Mexican team winning the tournament, but you never know, Spain and the world wasn´t expecting a defeat against the US, but that is the beauty of soccer, you just never know.

Not sacrificing a CCL game for a reserve game. That doesn't make sense. No sirree. Again -- I've focused my point not on all the decisions -- but on that decision only. Sending the reserves to SLV OK. Playing them 50 hours before hand in a reserve match makes no sense unless you give no value to CCL. I was at that reserve game -- there were third string players who sat the bench who could have played that game.

Frankly -- I think Dom Kinnear was just fine with not qualifying out of CCL group stages -- and was just fine with losing to Atlante.

This is exactly what I´m talking about, we just don´t get it, specially the league, either they don´t get it at all or they think the fans are stupid, this is from the MLS webpage:

Galaxy impress?, really?, a game they lost in their own city (not their own stadium, but you get my point.), in midseason form against a team that is in their preseason, playing their stars for only a few minutes and on tour is impressive?

It is not only that we don´t get that friendly games do not buy credibility, we sell, we tell everyone that our league is so limited, that to us losing a game against a preseason team in our turf playing mor ethan half of the game with their B and C team is impressive.

No wonder we don´t take CCL seriously, I´m just about to give up trying to explain to everyon ethat listens how important CCL is, the only thing I can do is attend the CCL games and support.

What would you expect MLS to say "....the LAG sucked it up big time in front of a huge, disappointed crowd that came expecting LAG to blow out the world champions..." Come on, it's just a press release.

Just say that in a friednly game, Barza won 2-1 and that fasn had a great time.

My problem is that those press releases reflect how the league and the majority of fans see real international games and friendly games, we think that friendly games are a true thermometer of MLS and our teams and they do think that losing 2-1 against a pre-season Barza is impressive.

My problem is that it is easier to find the friendly game between LA and Barza on TV than the CCL games (at least if you are an English speaking fan).

My problem is that our teams use all of their starter for a friendly game against a team using subs for the majority of the game but use our reserves to play CCL games.

Very well said. I feel the same way.

Let's face it. The highlights of the summer are international friendlies rather than meaningful games. What does this say about the American footy fan? That they're kinda plastic.

You mean the whole thing? Not just the 2nd round of the preliminaries?

I don't think a schedule like that exists yet. Not all in one place.

If somebody was watching the PR/Toronto game tonight, could you explain why the Islander got sent off in about the 85th minute? I didn't see anything he did, they replayed it and there was nothing at all, if anything it looked like maybe Serioux fouled him, that's what I thought before they gave the red. Then amazingly Nick Garcia shows up to help the guy find the way off the field, how helpful. Seems Nicky is always around red cards, huh? The guy who got redcarded was the one who scored against Toronto in the first game, he will probably be missed in the next game.
