Hey all! Well through conversation in the Open Cup thread I've been convinced to make the trip to my first DCU home match, pending a work scheduling issue. Not that I needed that much convincing. :D

Wonderful MattMathai has offered to provide me with a ticket, NattyBo and Blurtz23 have offered beers at the game, and JoeSoccerFan is going to "buy" me a beer at the tailgate. ;)

Heh, but this thread isn't about asking for handouts. All the above generosity was a pleasant surprise but I should have expected it knowing how cool you guys have been on here over the years.

I've got a few questions. I'll be driving in and I located a B&B very close (1.6 miles) to the stadium that has free parking that has reasonable rates. You guys know anything about this place or can you suggest something else? I figure walking distance would be best so I can have a good time and not worry about driving or using public transportation.

You guys don't normally do any walks to the stadium do you? You just meet at the tailgate and go from there, right?

I'm half tempted to ask my boss if he can schedule the surgery around this date... he's a nice guy, but I don't want to push it. He's already scheduling around my wife's due date at the end of October.

Anyway, any tips you could provide? Is there an entrance charge for Lot 8 even if I don't park? How do things normally go? Oh, and the ticket Matt is so generously providing is for the quiet side but he assured me that after the game starts I could easily make my way over to visit you guys.

I've been to DC only once before outside of the airport. I stayed about ten blocks north of the National Mall. But it was a short trip and I didn't get around much. Heck, this will be a short trip as well, just an evening for the game.

Well, I just wanted to start this thread so I wouldn't clutter the other one up. If I have any more questions I'll come in and ask. And maybe some other folks will want to plan their own trip as well.

Two in a row, baby! Screw those Sounders fans!

good to hear you are coming

contact me if you want a free ticket in the barra

I have not heard of the BB you mentioned, but it is in a perfectly safe hood... if you stick to east capitol street you could walk to RFK... even after the game.. almost 20 blocks, but it's a good walk.

prior to the game come to LOT 8. which will be to the right of the stadium if you are walking in from east capitol street. there is no fee for lot 8 if you walk. which I recommend. listen for the music & drums....

if you can bring two people with you from Ohio, I am still willing to give you 2 free tickets.. PM me if you have any questions.

    Screw those Sounder knuckleheads...

Well, unfortunately. I'm not going to be able to make this happen. My boss scheduled his surgery for the second. C'est la vie.

Thanks for all your support though and promises of tickets and beer!

I'll have to collect some other time.
