Well, if you're going by common convention and precedence then you should count shootouts as ties for both teams involved. That's how FIFA and pretty much everyone else does it.
MFL is definitely better than MLS, there is really no debating that fact. Superliga is a joke and should not be used as a standard to compare MLS and MFL teams. If Superliga was played in Mexico MLS teams would get blown out every game. I am a huge MLS fan and don't care much for the MFL, but it's crystal clear that MLS teams are a cut below MFL teams. For now, at least. I hope (and think) it will change in the future.
there is no debate. Mexican clubs are way better. Even our small clubs reach the knockout stages of the second most important club competition on the planet. Who knows how far San Luis would have advanced if they weren´t forced to withdraw
You bring up a good point; Fifa actually considers finals where it went to shootouts ties? I'm gonna leave it as a win because at the end of the day, someone won that game.
Why are you gonna bother to compile stats when we've already told you that they're worthless? The Mexican League is better. The End. The mikeymouse league can only take the top spot if they come closer to winning the upcoming CCL than Mexican teams. We won't find that out until next April. So anything you say is really pointless until then.
Just let gringo have this one. Ok Gringo, the MLS has just leapfrogged us into first place in the entire Concacaf. You guys are awesome!
I´m not sure what the point is in rehashing this over and over, but for the record, I just wanted to clear something up. MNT vs USMNT is different from FMF vs MLS. The US is clearly the best team in the region as of now. But the Mexican league is miles ahead of everyone else in CONCACAF, other than a couple of CRL clubs. Like I said on a million other threads, the US has the bulk of its talent in Europe, while the majority of Mexican stars play at home. On the other hand, considering the FMF is one of the top 10 leagues in the world, going abroad for Mexico´s best players (particularly for Chivas/America players, considering both clubs at some point were ranked among the top 20 clubs in the world) would be a step down. Outside of head to head matches, you also have to compare both of their records against CONMEBOL and UEFA teams, something we´ve already done in the past. Finally (outside of maybe DC United,) the MLS doesn´t stack two teams with a bulk of national team players and high-priced imports the way the majority of leagues around the world do. That weighs against them when they compete internationally. Take all of that into account.
Do I post "really do" 3 times in a row? With the threads you've started and the repetitive posting you've done, I'm starting to think you're a "counting cards", "buy underwear at K-Mart" kinda person.
I envision more Mexican players coming to the MLS to play. I hope the MLS keeps growing and improving. In the end, it will make for better games and more entertainment for us. I want San Diego to have a team!
Club America beat Inter Milan today in pk's, does that mean the FMF has just closed the gap with the Serie A?
I'm thinking the same thing, I envision Borgetti, Zihna, and Marquez joining Blanco and Claudio Suarez very soon.
Update: In the CCL, Pachuca defeated Deportivo Jalapa 3-0 and D.C. United tied with CD Luis Angel Firpo 1-1. MLS 3-3-3 .500 MFL 4-2-3 .556 CCL Update: MLS 0-1-0 .500 MFL 1-0-0 1.000
You have no reason to keep track of the first group of stats, they're meaningless. So is the 2nd group, because the US league has 5 teams in this tournament (Thanks Jack Warner), so they're gonna have more opportunities to have wins. Don't waste your time with these stats. The Mexican League is the better league. Period.
FYP. There are two countries involved you know. Two different federations. And if he's figuring out wining percentage then why does it matter if there are five teams verse four? Btw, I agree that the Mexican league is better than MLS, at least for now.
