Downgraded by who? Keep in mind Hugo Sanchez was sacked. And winning the World Cup should always be the main objective other than that why f'ing compete..

Now, for the FMF it is obvious that qualifying is the main objective and then after that playing a fifth World Cup game. What follows is the 2018 initiative. I expect better from you Metalero.

yeah, but fmf kept changing coaches. Its hard to demand much like that. And even lowering the objective, it still really hard to convince yourself that there is hope to qualifying for the WC. On paper Mexico is supposed to be superior, but we always screw up. the worst thing is that as much as it hurts to admit it, USA will be going into the Aztec as favorite. I think the only other time a team played Mexico in theAztec was favorite, was Costa rica in 2001, and they won:( God Forbid the gringos run with the same luck.

    People here.

I think I know the FMF true objective when it comes to el TRI. And it has little to do with futbol.

Qualifying should be a sure thing when you look at the number of spots and the competition.

Neither did I but when the A team was outplayed by Panama in last years Gold Cup you pretty much know that this team is going to suck.

the Panamanians are also in Pre-Season

They have had problems since 06 in the scoring department, and we still haven't had some sort of improvement.

Yes, the US team is in shape but they have something we don't

    Technique in the midfield

This Mexico team doesn't have silky passing skills like the old teams did.

I remember vividly when Lavolpe called Claudio Suarez back for the last game before he picked a squad for the World Cup. It was against Paraguay in Chicago, Maza f'ked up of course but Claudio's technique was only behind Rafa's.

We haven't developed CMs this decade that are capable of distributing the ball and marking. We have depended on Pavel and Torrado and when one of them was missing we had Braulio Luna (WC 02) or someone like Ramon Morales who can step into that role (Copa America 07).

Thats why as Pavel and Torrado have gotten old, teams have controlled more of the ball against us. The US didn't bunker or play for the counter against us in Columbus they controlled the match in every aspect. (Pavel and Leandro too slow). Costa Rica had more of the ball against us at Azteca, the first time I can remember a team outpossess us at home. Trinidad had the ball more than ever before at Azteca, and thats one of the reasons their players didn't get tired, because when you have the ball you can rest a little and conserve your energy.

What if the US wins the midfield again at Azteca, they'll have the ball and control the tempo of the game for the first time ever at Azteca, which will allow them to not be tired come the last twenty minutes.

The bad thing is that no one ever calls out Pavel, and Torrado, because of their history. The worst part is even if they do get called out we have no one who can replace them. Israel Castro is a rightback converted to DM; Leandro hasn't cut it on this level, Correa is decent at recuperating the ball but he doesn't distribute plus he is about to turn 30 in a month, Noriega doesn't cut it, after that who else is out there?

I've harped on the athleticism of the game has become more and more important which it has. But our technique isn't that great either and thats what makes it much more worse. Silky passing skills can win but we don't have them.

Mexico will qualify. I'm convinced of that.

What will happen in S.A is what worries me if they don't improve their current form.

Just move Rafa to D-mid, he has quality such that we won't need to use 2 d-mids if he is in that slot (aka bench Torrado), and he has great vision/passing abilities.

I'm probably overly-optimistic, but I think this team can get its act together between now and SA2010.

Well I dont know about you guys, but from the little soccer that I saw last night I think the team played a little better. I guess it's an improvement. Gio was our best player and we actually had some good touches at times.

Call me a blind optimist but I saw improvement. Gio is really growing, And I think once we get all our guns together well see a much better team.

You can't take much from this game because the ref just lost it. Panama made it a point to hack and dive and ref should have done a much better job controlling the game. Once the foul on ochoa took place the game went to shit.

Magallon and Castro really fell asleep on that goal, I don't blame ochoa. I also think getting Noriega sent off set us back, torrado IMO isn't good enough. I wish I could see a noriega Castro mid.

I also don't see the criticism on pinto, I think he's had a good tournament. I think some of you are too obsessed with height. If it were up toid have el guti as our rb, kid is fast hustles and is useful on the attack.

I hope vela starts the next game...

Panfilo rep for you. That team out there looked unable to create anything. Aside from what Gio was doing I saw no improvement. It's was by far one of the worst games I've seen.

I surprised no has commented on el Vasco's blunder.

I wanna comment more so on the fans. I know Caracha mentioned it, but for some reason the fans don't think it's wrong to waste 7 dollar beer on grass. Wtf is the point of that? You know those idiots that throw beer are not balling out of control that they can afford to waste money like that. Puro pendenjo. I don't get it, precious beer wasted on grass.

You know what though? The Mexican fans in the US are becoming notorious for throwing shit at players and starting fights in the crowd. Low class.

Does anyone know why the fans in Houston last night didn't respond to the players? Several times, the Mexican players asked the crowd to settle down, but people kept throwing things.

Great now you guys are breaking out the classic terms...low class and nacos. Quit being so high and mighty and quit being so naive. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out...there's an element of ghetto in every major city of the world and that element has discovered football. It happens everywhere where the game matters. If the spineless ref handles it like a pro nothing happens. Last night was a complete fiasco, I've never seen such a poorly managed game. A ten minute break in the action in a highly physical game, with a bunch of borrachos...was this really that surprising?

More generalizations...if the team, the league, the fans are such shit why do you continue to pay attention? You've made it clear that you barely pay attention anyway yet youre one of the most outspoken critics...ya callate con tus mamadas.

because a little soul-searching would do us good, man. especially us that are guests in this country. i was there last night and some of the sht going down was down right embarrassing. its not being high & mighty.....there's a picture from the Chronicle on the Houston boards and you see a dad holding his young daughter and she's terrified of a viscous fight that lasted a full minute before security got involved. we (all of us) need to check ourselves bro.

How is the ref supposed to control the crowd? Drunk crowds often revolt simply when calls go against their team, even if the calls are correct. The crowd seems to have acted this way after Aguirre's correct send off. When Phillips refused to leave, there wasn't really much he ref could do. It's the job of the security to guard him as he leaves, or to force him out if he refuses to go. The ref has nothing to do with this.
