I'll be there. The Stars need all the support they get.

Is Open Cup attendence a problem for USL clubs? You wouldn't think the drop-off would be as bad as MLS. Or is it just because the games are on Tuesday night?

Awesome, are you going to come join us?

Btw, for the guys that were at Lyndhurst BW3s for the viewing party last week. Remember that certain display we were talking about doing for FSC, but we thought we didn't have another FSC home game this year? Well, the game on 4th of July weekend is home and on FSC. So, we've got a month to make our displays and get a hold of a bunch of styrofoam. I'd like to keep it a secret though if we're really going to do it.

My publicist was going to out out a press release but I wanted you to hear it here first.

I am officially going to the game and will be at the Winking Lizard on Miles between Richmond and Green prior if anyone is thirsty.

Can't wait. The irony is I'll be rooting for the Cleveland team to beat St. Louis tonight then on Saturday rooting for the St. Louis team to beat Cleveland (Cardinals v. Indians. I'm from St. Louis)

Shit match. Stars need work on timing their runs and finishing. They should have shredded that weak offside trap.

Also, Green Army guys...ummm...don't sing with an English accent. It's embarrassing. And the "Same ol' (insert team name), always cheating" does not translate to USL. At all. Also We don't generally serve pies in concession stands in the USA. Think of something else. Pizza? Hot dogs? Cracker Jacks?

If you want to critique us, why don't you come and join us?

I'm sorry you were embarrassed. Really, truly, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. But it's not embarrassing for us so why should we care?

Btw, we have an actual Englishman in the group, and have had several in the past, so that's where the accents you heard came from. Especially from the first two seasons when the guys leading the chants had accents. It's hard not to copy when that's who's leading and teaching the songs.

I don't see why that one song "doesn't translate". I'm curious, why didn't you come down and make these suggestions during the game?

Also, for the most part, that was CCS's back up squad. Although, we should have done better even considering that. I don't know if you noticed either, but over half of those offside calls weren't even legitimate. And I'm not being a homer, we were right in front of nearly all of them during the first half. Shite referreeing.

Hey, I'm glad there's some professional soccer presence in Cleveland. And since the club is only 3 years old, I'm sure that the chants will evolve and emerge into something more original and uniquely American given time.

My feelings weren't hurt (if the inverse is listening to pre-programed clapping at an Indians or Cavaliers game, I'll take English accent cheers every time). I was just offering some constructive criticism.

Alright, I understand. But it would have been much more constructive had it been phrased differently. It looks more like a complaint or criticism than anything else, so that's how I reacted. And we're really of the opinion that unless you're going to come and join us then we pretty much don't care what you have to say. I'm sure most other supporters' groups feel the same.

It was a relatively weak showing from us last night. I made the comment that we only sing when we're losing. Seems pretty true this year.

If you only sing when you're winning, well, there wouldn't be much singing this year.

I will say that was the ugliest 3-0 win I have seen. So many point blank shots missed. Cleveland couldn't repeat there excellent run of signings they had in the past. I do not even know who to point out, the whole team just looked disconnected.

Still it was fun to finally get to a match although I had to duck out of the way of all the crap the staff was flinging at me.

Hey, maybe it wasn't a great game. But we won! I'll take it. And I had a great time! One of the best $10 I've ever spent (got the wife to come along again -- I'm slowly making a fan out of her).

Yeah, we beat a PDL team, but at least we did it decisively, and as was pointed out, with the second-stringers. Looking at the other results, some fellow USL-1 teams found their amateur opponents a lot harder to dispatch.

I agree that the refereeing was a little suspect. One minute of stoppage time in the second half? After two major injury incidents and a goal? Was the ref just asleep when all that happened?

Or maybe he was just being merciful. It seemed to me that the Stars didn't so much outplay the Lions as outrun them. St. Louis looked exhausted by the end of the game.

Hey, I think I may have broken a curse I was inadvertantly putting on the team! About 25 minutes into the game, with the Stars not accomplishing much, I offered to run to the concession stand and grab my wife and me a snack. As I left, I said "You watch: the minute I'm out of sight, they'll score." I was right.

We were seated behind a silver-haired old lady who was apparently one of the Lions' soccer moms. She knew the players' first names and kept yelling out advice. "Ya gotta stay OVER the ball!" I kept waiting for one of the players to turn around and whine "Mooooom!".

And I thought Evan Bush did a good job in goal. I know his name because the PA announcer started shouting it in the second half every time he touched the ball. "Evan Bush!" He had me doing it too.

And as for the PA announcer, I appreciated his exposition regarding the USOC, that the winner would face the winner of the Rochester-Pittsburgh match, and the updates on that game.

Okay, enough free association. My point? CCS won, I had a good time, I'm coming back yet again.

[sarcasm]Right, because that's the goal. Let's shoot for something that fits in better with soccer moms and jock jams.[/sarcasm]

Green Army guys, you are doing fine. Stick with it. The "She Fell Over" and "Same Old (fill in the blank), always cheating" are entertaining, and people pretty much get a kick out of everything the GA do.

You missed it. Last game there was a group of teenage girls a few rows behind us that started their own chorus of "she fell over" when one of the St. Louis players went down. Hilarious!

    Hell noooo.

I was thinking more a long the lines of what the Columbus Crew have going. Only with more swearing!

And if you're going to do English "City" chants model some off of Stoke City's...you know, since they actually played in Cleveland at one point. It can't hurt to incorporate some history into the program.

Here's one where you only have to change one word!

Feel free to laugh me off the board, but has anyone considered "Cleveland Rocks"? It's uniquely Cleveland, only two words, and easy to sing. American soccer songs shouldn't all have to be based on English or South American songs.
