http://www2.informador.com.mx/deportes/2009/108711/6/futbol-sin-balon.htm Up until last season, both Guadalajara and Chivas San Rafael were in Segunda "de filiales". The purchase or loan of a Segunda "de Ascenso" team makes me feel a bit more confident after the Tapatio sale. If they have enough talent, they can make it to Primera A, at which point they'll have a new Tapatio (or sell it and start the process over again). And the good U20s and U17s will be in their respective U20/U17 leagues anyway. It's also not unusual with Chivas. I believe the Bravo/Medina/Maza/Salcido(?) team won promotion from Segunda (maybe with JC Chavez, current U20 coach, at the helm?).
Efrain Flores and Jose Luis Real are both staying on!! http://www2.informador.com.mx/deportes/2009/108981/6/chivas-apuntala-sus-fuerzas-basicas.htm
Chivas won the Copa Saprissa with the 91 generation. There's a video of the goals scored in the final. http://www.teletica.com/noticia-detalle.php?id=7900&idp=2 Ricardo Vasquez scored a hat trick in the final making him the best scorer of the tournament with a total of 7 goals.
Thought on Fuerzas Basicas- We've had decent success in the last few years with debuting players early, and having reliable starters who are 19 or 20 years old, but this first generation also hasn't exactly made that next leap. I'm thinking of Baez, Esparza, Solis, Chore, Pato, Pina, Chicharito, Fabian, etc. (and yes, different defenses and arguments could be made for the success of each individual). I would say our youth squads are organized, get players used to pro life, expose them to international competitions, so that pretty much anyone with sufficient talent is ready to debut with the big team. But if the talent pool is the same, then you are still only going to have a couple of stars out of the bunch. (you are, however, giving a broader group of players a chance, an opportunity to make up for perhaps not identifying them as a potential star the first time around) What's the next step then as a Chivas owner? Will the talent be sufficient so that you don't have to hire refuerzos? Can you create a market for your players so that you only keep one or two out of each generation and sell the rest (and not just sell the rejects), so that you have space for the next generation? This would mean, for example, keeping Pina and Baez until you get an offer you can't refuse, but selling Chicharito, Pato, Fabian, etc. after a couple of years as starters. And what do you do to find the true diamond in the rough? Do you just create more Chivas Academies across the country? Maybe under different "brands" so as not to discourage non-Chivistas? (this could coincide with an UdG "partnership" approach) Nevermind me, I'm just wondering about next steps on a Tuesday summer morning.
I think many of the youngesters such as baez pato chicharo etc need to start making the jump to the European market even if they are small teams. baby steps. Our young players need to continue getting playing time look at pato, what happen to him after 06? and what about omar esparza? they literally fallen out of orbit. When flores needed reinforcements I was all for it, but bringing players like Borgetti only to take up space and playing time of the younger players is erronious, if Chivas is going to bring reinforcemnets they need to be better then what we already have.
I'm thinking along the same lines, which is why I wish Vergara's plan to buy a Spanish team had gone through. Even if it had been in 2nd division. Pato was a starter during their championship season three years ago (who can forget the images of Blanco trying to rile him up in the semis), but then lost his job to Chore. Chore then lost his job to either Baez, or the switch to a single DM. Baez then took Esparza's job away. The weakness of having good fuerzas basicas and debuting players early, is that if you don't have a place to put them, they'll limit each other's progress.
damn is he really that buff? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpS8Vu-JL8U"]YouTube - (Pato Araujo) Entrena. Entrena. Juega. Entrena. - NikeFutbol[/ame]
Keep in mind most of these youngsters haven't hit their prime even witha few seasons under their belts.
I didn't have a chance to post this over the weekend. It's an interesting article on Chivas prospects hoping to make the main team. http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/m.../26/la-sangre-joven-de-chivas-levanta-la-mano
i can't wait to see what Davila brings to the team, hopefully he does very good. i wonder how long it will take for Kristian Alvarez to move up to the first team, he is a very promising player, he is already being dubbed the next Rafa Marquez, let's just hope he lives up to the hype.

Found this blog talking about a sub15 about to make the move to Valencia. He's a central defender. http://msmambitsoccer.blogspot.com/2009/08/solorio-casi-jugador-del-valencia-cf.html Dont know how credible it is.
Gol de la U de Chile. 3-1, with about 12 minutes left. Chivas on top. Edit: Game over, I forgot they only play 35 minute halves. heh
