I watched a program on aussie tv about Ghotbi he looks like he has the credentials and would be a good manager. he even said he considered managing in the a-league at one point and hasn't ruled it out as of yet.

So i say Ghotbi as well

Realistically, I think we should try to keep Rutemoller and give him the head coach position. His resume is pretty outstanding.

Ghotbi is a decent candidate but only because he is familiar with S.Korean/Asian football. He's certainly not an established, experienced coach like Rutemoller, but in the short-run he can be useful.

However, I think we shouldn't exaggerate Ghotbi's knowledge of S.Korea. After all; Ghotbi didn't work with their current coach, so he knows very little aside from some knowledge of their players (which BigSoccer members possess as well :)).

Ideally and remaining realistic, I would be very satisfied to have Rutemoller as head coach and Ghotbi as his right-hand man (#1 assistant).

It would be a grave mistake to sign Mayeli Kohan, who unfortunately appears to be the top-choice right now :(.

ghotbi worked as video analyst during WC2002. Originally Korea also considered him as successor to Pim but somehow ruled out due to "domestic" coach policy. Ghotbi i think would be a great choice, because of his knowledge and keen observation etc.

Whether he becomes manager or not, I think IFF should ask him for help as analyist or some sort. He'll boost teams performance for sure.

I think Korea made mistake not getting him after Pim left.

Mayeli Kohan or Ghotbi would be a mistake. Iran will probably not qualify under either, but worse, if Iran do qualify under either, they will get walked over in the WC.

Troussier is a whole different story.

Well, Troussier is out now. Apparently making too many demands and looks likely to be picked up by Iraq. Since Denizli is highly unlikely, it'll probably be an Iranian at the helm. Ghotbi or Mayeli Kohan.

But then again, last time there were 30 or so candidates and out of nowhere Daei who wasn't a candidate got the job!

At first I thought another bullshit news, but everyone seems to be reporting it. Yep, 9/10 Iran is screwed. Most likely Iran won't qualify. If Iran do and MK is still at the helm, most likely Iran will reeeeally suck in South Africa.

vai vai vai:( I know this is not what people wanna hear, and it's gonna sound like a ********ing bitter cliche: ONLY IN IRAN!
With three do-or die games left, only in IR, would someone hire a coach who failed to qualify tm to world-cup before, and who hasn't done much good since that time.
I dont now whether to cry or laugh, OR KILL MYSELF. Because really guys, isn't this Deja vu?

    the positive side of MK:

    6(IRAN)-2(SOUTH KOREA)
    4(IRAN)-1(CHINA)

he also want jallali as his assistant..thats the only positive things i can come up with...

i think they chose mk because of his good results agains the west asian teams aka south korea and china:rolleyes:

Update: Confusion mounts as Mayelikohan's coaching job chances diminishes

TEHRAN- IranSportsPress.com: Despite earlier reports of Maylikohan's appointment as Iran's new manager, new reports indicate Maylikohan's final conditions for taking Iran top job were denied by Iran Football Federation and Iran coach selection is postponed to the next day's session.
    MNA

While earlier reports by ISNA and Mehr News confirmed Mohammad Mayelikohan's appointment as the new national team coach, in a statement by Iran Football Federation board member, Fatolahzadeh; "Iran coaching selection has been postponed to IFF's session on Tuesday and will be officially announced by either of Ali Kafashian or Mehdi Taj".

According to the latest reports from Mehr News, the reason for IFF's change of mind about Maylikohan appointment was due to his further conditions on choosing his own assistant and Iran National team's preparation camps. Iran Football Federation reportedly denied Maylikohan's conditions and proceeds to selection of the remaining two Iranian candidates; Yavari and Ghalenoie.

Iran will play North Korea on June 6 in Pyongyang.

The team is fourth in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in Group Two with six points, behind North and South Korea and Saudi Arabia respectively.

hahahaha this is becoming a joke:eek:
now even worse..either yavari or ghalenoie OMFG!

No way is Ghalenoei wose than Mayeli Kohan. Yavari, perhaps, but Ghalenoei is a saint compared to Mayeli Kohan.

I also think having Ghotbi is worse than MK. Problem is that there are about 5 different "groups" pulling this thing in different directions and each of these groups seem to have their own candidates. And for those who think Ghotbi is the saint, poshte oon ham kolofte!!

Last time a few people were appointed before out of nowhere Daei got the job. And most of those were foreign. So now with all the Iranians being associated to this, maybe Scolari will finally be announced out of nowhere as the coach!!

I'm just waiting for the official announcement that Daei has been reinstated .

I pray to God that there is still some chance, any chance at all, that Rutemoller will take over as head coach.

As some have already noted, nothing is certain in Iranian football. Four or five names are typically thrown in the air and then all of a sudden a brand-new name is announced as head coach (remember: nothing is official until the first match is played under the new coach). They play with our emotions.

It's really unhealthy being an Iranian football fan.

All this cirkus, about all the candidates and bla bla bla. It was just an act. Mayeli Kohan, was probably on their mind the second Daei got fired. There was no discussion about who would get the nod. There was no investigation, as our dear little IFF chief (correction IRs BITCH) Khafesho-ian told us on navad there would be. I'm so frustrated right now.

Anyway, MK is the manager now, and of course there's nothing we could do about this. So the only choice I have is to support him, and wish he could manage TM to the world cup.
Good luck Mayeli Kohan! You sure as hell gonna need it!
