I was just wondering what the average salary is in WPS, league minimum and highest paid player?

I'm sure that's Marta and she gets 1 to 2 million a year? Any other millionaire players?

Marta is the highest paid, but not nearly a million a year, although she does have a lot of endorsements that probably put her over a million. Nobody else even remotely close to a million. The average salary was said to be about $30-$32 thousand. WNT members make more than that, but not a lot more. There are probably only a handful of players making $100,000 or more, if that. League policy is to not disclose salaries, although Marta's agreement was pretty public.

Yeah, I was thinking that with all the sponsorships and contributions to WPS if maybe that would push Marta over the 1 million mark. The reason I mentioned 2 million is because I swore I read somewhere than she has a 2 million dollar deal but that must be multi-year.

As far as the USWNT goes I read over in that section that they do indeed earn 100K or more a year but I don't know if that's every year or only in years they have the World Cup or Olympics.

It's good they have low salaries to avoid the problems that hurt the WUSA and NASL.

Here are the numbers according to league projections.
    WNT - $47,500
    WNT pool - $35,000
    Top international - $32,500
    International - $25,000
    Top domestic - $20,000
    Domestic - $12,875
    -----------------------------
Marta's Deal (Roughly 500K with Incentives, 1.2 million guarenteed over 5 years)

    - 5 year guaranteed contract
    - $225,000 salary guaranteed by AEG
    - $225,000 from Puma
    - 10% of gross Marta merchandise sales
    - house
    - SUV
    - cell phone
    - equity position in the league
    - team and individual performance bonuses
    --------------------------------
Kelly Smith - 95K per year
    --------------------------------

I seriously doubt that other foriegn players are making more than 70K

    --------------------------------
Minimum set for USWNT is 40K, but they will still get a portion of sary from the USWNT contract

Pasoccerdad, does that mean top international players get 32.5K a year and top domestic players get 20K a year and the league minimum is $12,875?

I suppose international players make more because it's more of a hassle for them to move overseas.

I read an article on Marta and it stated that she is living in an apartment with a teammate on the Sol who was in Sweden with so I wonder why she isn't using the house she got??

They are from several sources - THe projections are from WPS, the USWNT minimum is from every article I read on the contract settlement - Marta Numbers are from 2 different sources and Smith's from another

mind you, I do not think any US player makes over 60K from the WPS alone (Opinion)

They're also just plain better - a "top international" almost by definition is going to be one of the best players on the planet (Formiga, Kelly Smith, Homare Sawa, etc.), and even a regular international is probably one of the best players on a national team, else it wouldn't be worth the trouble to bring them over here.
