    Good morning, everyone!

I wanted to reach out to this thread and ask if anyone knows of a company in the U.S. who is selling the new Hungary NT red shirt. I am trying to find one for my wife.

I have Googled it, but the only option is purchasing it from overseas for about $92.00 U.S.

    Any help would be appreciated!

My wife is a first generation born American, but her parents came over from Dunakeszi in the early 1970s. Her father speaks of the long and storied history of Magyar football which I have only really discovered since I met her 12 years ago. My family is German (Bavarian to be precise) so we definitely have our share of discussions about the sport.

I have to think, with the young talent the Magyars have along with the veterans, that Hungary is in a prime position to sneak into the World Cup in 2010. Am I dreaming? Or is this possible.

comming from a magyar, id say anythings possible man. they do have a few tuff teams in the first round of play but i can deff. see them finishing hopefully 2nd over sweden and denmark. It's kind of a long shot, but they have beat some pretty good teams the past year including italy.

A good result in the friendly against North Ireland and the schedule is friendly in WC qualifying. But Hungary must beat Albania and Malta again. With 13 points, Hungary will start to put the seed of doubt into some teams minds. And Denmark, Sweden and Portugal are taking points off each other, as has Albania. So this is a wide open group. Hopefully, we will have a lot to talk about in 2009-2010.

Three consecutive Qualifing home matches for HUNGARY at Ferenc Puskas Stadium will determine their fate - 3 wins and they are in - anything less will prove fatal.

There is hope, but Dutch Manager Ronald Koeman has his work cut out.

A good mix of young players and experienced ones playing in Germany and England might see new history for the Magyars.

sorry, my mistake - it is brother Irwin Koeman.

But I think it matter not if Ghandi takes Hungary to South Africa - as long as they get there.

It has not been since 1986 that they tasted World Cup ...

not suprising ... the lack of good results is draining.

to take time to fly back to Hungary only to lose time and time again is counterproductive to players who are on foreign teams. They have to keep their productivity higher or risk losing their place.

the national team selection process has been less than fruitful as well.

Why no players from Videoton ?

well - it will be another 4 years - just as I predicted in my post above. :(

Okay a little off topic but hoping someone can point me in the right direction regarding the Hungarian League. First, is there a site that is in English (I don't speak Hungarian) where I can follow the week to week news of the Hungarian league? If there is not one, I would love to start one so that first generation ex-pats can follow the news as it is pretty spotty coverage in the international media. Also, where in the USA can I purchase Soproni League shirts, etc.?

    Thanks!

Many of the league clubs have sites that feature an English version. You like need to look for and English flag (Union Jack) icon.

Here is an example - http://vidi.hu/home

I would be interested if you were to start up such a web site.

    cheers

    Good question.

I really believed Hungary would qualify for the 2010 World Cup. Their chances for the Euro 2012 are not impossible, but they have to be consistent and, perhaps bring along more of the youth seen in the younger NT divisions. There is a solid base of talent in Hungary. I am just not sure it has been organized (coaching) and utilized (again, coaching) well.

demoralising results from past two friendlies, granted it was against Germany and Netherlands, but Hungary were quite unable to offer any resistance at all, that is worrying for the upcoming qualifiers. :(
