Found in another forum, these observations of two who watched the WNT play the So Cal 92 and 93 ODP teams. Second comments are by the assistant coach of the 92 boys (who apparently missed the women's single goal against his team  ).

A fascinating post - thanks. I've read, either in this or other forums, that U-16 men can be a very competitive match with the USWNT and this bears that out.

    ?????

they won't win. they just played two boys' teams and lost. anyway, as pia seems to state, the point is learning as much as possible from the game. it's good practice.

Great post. I always hear about these games taking place but never actually hear how they go. I’m glad whoever wrote this gave the girls their do instead of just saying they lost 5-1 to a bunch of 15/16 year olds. It is defiantly important to note that these are ODP players not the local high school team. I really hate playing boys/men. They are so much faster and when you (at least for me) defend against a faster player you really have to put a body on them, get physical and win the ball, with boys not only are they faster but they can jump higher and are stronger, even if you are stronger, it’s a scrimmage so you can’t go all out. Oh and they sweat and stink so much more than girls. Eww.

There's another article about the U17 women's national team playing the U14 Irvine Strikers on Top Drawer Soccer: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/component/option,com_topdrawer/Itemid,251/nid,8042/

It says the boys were quicker, more creative and dictated the game. This is a club team 3 years younger than the national team (although I know several of the girls on the team may actually be the same age as the boys they played). Testosterone explains the quickness, but not the creativity.

Why would you doubt it? (And why would anyone care if you do?)

Its not a controversial subject, and almost anyone who follows the National Team knows such matches have been part of their training process for many many years...

And why would anyone make such a thing up, anyway?

Even ussoccer.com has had coverage over the years of the WNT scrimmaging against boys teams.

Now, the moon landing on the other hand . . .

You couldn't have been following the US women for 40 years as they only played their first match in 1985.

Sure it does, it's the result of the 17s going into survival mode to cope with the speed and quickness of the game. This happens pretty routinely in female teams (and, in fact, in most teams regardless of gender when presented with a different level of play) when put up against boys the first few times. If they face these situations as a group more routinely than they will start to cope better with it and have the time to physically and mentally execute faster to solve problems which will likely lead to more creativity. That said, I think there is always some element of survival mode that will kick in with female teams against boys so there needs to be a clear thought process behind why they are put in those situations.

Trustworthy sources allege that the WNT was playing a boys team on a grassy knoll in Dallas....

Easy man. People are just wondering why you're doubting something that happens often with the WNT at different levels. They play younger boys teams in exhibitions.
And we are talking about the Womens National teams here.

Show me pictures of the WNT playing a boys youth team and losing. Not the under 20's, not the under 17,s. THE WNT. Show me proof. PICTURES? VIDEO?

My point is there aren't any, because it is all BS. The real WNT would crush ANY boys high school team or ANY boys club team.

    ********ing pictures or video...

Um-- they usually play select teams I believe, but they do mostly lose. I believe some years they've done fairly well against 15's.

Bu this is not controversial, really. I don't know that anyone can cite pictures or video for you because it would never cross anyone's mind that there was anything to prove...

If you need a cause try Roswell or ancient astronauts or something...

Obviously I haven't been to any of these type of games since the ones I've heard them play were in HDC or other places where the WNT trains. But I'm sure there's someone on these boards that has been to one of these games in the past. I believe I remember reading comments in the past by WNT members who commented on how they were outmuscled and the boys even at high school age were much faster than they were.
