U2 will start their world tour at Camp Nou on the 30th of June.

They already played there in summer 2005, The Edge put on a Barça jersey and we won the league and CL the following season.

I wish they came here every year!

I know, it's So Cruel how they don't come bless our season every year. In the Name of Love, why don't they Stay (Faraway, So Close)?!

It seems like every time they do come, it's a Beautiful Day and Barça experiences an Elevation in their fortunes. It's an Unforgettable Fire, A Sort of Homecoming. Some might say it's Even Better Than The Real Thing.

When U2 Walk On and don't come back to the Camp Nou for awhile, Barça begins to suffer from Vertigo, like they're Stuck in a Moment They Can't Get Out Of. It's awful, it's like they're Trying to Throw Their Arms Around the World, Running to Stand Still...

I guess U2 just works in Mysterious Ways.
    :D

Hmm... U2 starts the US portion of their tour in Chicago at Soldier Field. Somehow I think this is a sign that I need to go to Barcelona.

... and if you don't believe me here's the proof

Yes, os_mutante, I'll do whatever I can to go. Barça socis will have preference for a certain amount of tickets so I guess I'll get one some way or another.

    inswinger, that was great!

I guess I will but lately we don't even get press passes for the big concerts (like AC/DC, Springsteen...), we have to pay for them like everyone. I still don't know what will happen with U2, but I'll be happy if I just don't end without a ticket when it's sold out.

Well, as an Irish man, I'm incredibly embarressed at U2 having come from here, but if they give Barca good luck, I'll bite my toungue.:D:p

As long as we are talking hometown regional rock stars, I'll trade you Blink 182 for U2 anyday.

I'd give you Fall Out Boy for one record from either of those bands. A single even.

    Okay, you win that one.:p

Ah sure, each to his/her own when it comes to music, it's more the Bono factor; shouting 'we need to save the environment' from his private jet while tackling the problems of world poverty from his huge mansion ("I just don't understand, there's loads of money, these people are starving and I just can't figure out how the resources are getting used up, perhaps a trip on the jet will help me think") end rant

I'm actually good friends with his niece, so I have to watch my tongue.:D

Are you really? If you can get me an audience with them I promise you a Barça game and a free stay in Barcelona!

As you can see, I'm a U2. Its' all about the music really, don't care that much about the other issues, and my fave is Edge :D

I am, but it's funny, it's never mentioned. It'd be like telling her I'd seen her naked. I don't know if she knows that everyone knows. Her surname is Hewson though, which is a bit of a give away. If I ever become part of the inner circle, I'll let you know:p

And also there's the whole:'You're Irish, do you know Bono?' thing. I can say, "well . . ." and then mumble "indirectly" with a wink and not be lying. The women love it. . . I can only assume.

I assume you Irish people must be a bit tired of having U2 mentioned in every conversation (or almost) with a foreigner.

You know, actually I have an Irish friend who'll come to see them play here and I'll be going to Dublin. He loves football as well, but supports Man Utd...

Yes, let me know if you're in the circle!

    Reminds me...

One time back in high school all the stage hand students got to hang out with U2's tour manager when U2 came through town. After about 10 minutes of tech questions and production questions, he says, "OK, why don't you guys ask the interesting stuff you really want to know... what's Bono like in person? who's The Edge's favorite guitar player? does Adam Clayton really score all the birds?"

For the record, The Edge's favorite guitar player is The Edge. Although apparently he is quite fond of Spyro Gyra.

Mind-boggling, isn't it... is there some sort of Spyro Gyra Appreciation Society in Ireland nobody knows about?

Here's an article written by the excellent rock journalist Dave Marsh. He basically owns Bono, badly.

    http://www.counterpunch.org/marsh03192009.html

His daughter took an acting program at a place I worked in NYC. She was nice.

Thanks. Very good article, wow! Marsh would have easily, convincingly, and with full right won the debate.
I sometimes find it difficult to separate the music and the artist/person. Might be unfair, but never liked Bono, sooooo..... never got into U2.
