Made with sugar instead of corn syrup. Coming in April, I think. I've been waiting for Coke or Pepsi to do something like this for a long time.
Kottke is sufficiently excited about this: http://kottke.org/09/02/sweet-sweet-sugared-pepsi-throwback Also,
I heard if you go into some Mexican grocery stores they will sell Coke imported from Mexico where they still make it with sugar so it tastes more like the good ol' stuff. I did just that, found the Mexican Coke and gave it a try. It was lame, didn't taste anything like the old stuff.
It's messed up, but I think my body is now so conditioned to corn syrup that when I drink a soda with sugar, it makes me sick.
Well, the 8 week limited time release for Pepsi Throwback is over. Stores won't be getting any more in, so now's the time to stock up if you can still find it. I just bought 4 12 packs and 1 of Mountain Dew Throwback.
I just had my first bottle (the local 7-11 had a bunch in stock). Gotta say, it's an improvement over regular Pepsi and Coke (less of the sticky aftertaste, seems to go down smoother), but I'm not going to go out and buy out the remaining stock or anything either. Then again, I'm not a regular soda drinker, so YMMV.
Normally, I am a big fan of sugar over HFCS. Less heavy. But I've had throwback before and am not all that impressed. It's not as light as I would have hoped.
