Can't let this go a whole 12 hours with no FIRST POST or anything I cannot wait to see the team (whoever they may be by then) in Charleston, just to get an idea of what they're gonna look like this year. They play how many games in Puerto Rico (Suave) this/next week? I think we should track where all the folks we jettison(ed) this off-season end up And by we, I obviously mean someone who is not me .......
I've been trying to find out where guys went as well. Obviously we know where Gallardo, the Gonzolos, and Ivan went. But what about Vide, Thompson, Kirk, and John Carroll? Wikipedia is of no help.
I must admit, I missed where Gonzalo Martinez went... Last I heard, he was either going to an unnamed MLS side or a Colombian club, but he is currently still on DC's roster. any news?
Which one? Manny, Moe or Jack? Curly, Larry or Moe? Harpo, Groucho or Chico? How many Carroll brothers does it take to screw in a light bulb at RFK Stadium? None, no need for a lightbulb if Brian is wearing his Argyle sweater.
Kirk was in Seattle's camp as a trialist but he did not stick there. Vide is probably making calls now - LA could be a fit with fellow UVa/NYRB Bruce Arena. Thompson, Cordeiro, Pat Carroll and Jeff Carroll are likely USL-bound if they continue their soccer careers (Goff mentioned that Pat Carroll was lining uop a trial at Charleston).
Kirk is with the Minnesota Thunder now. http://www.mnthunder.com/igsbase/ig...=&NewsID=500&NewsCatIDdisplay=&KeywordSearch=
Of course, the dude I really want to track is the much-maligned (often unfairly, IMO) Rod Dyachenko! Has he surfaced anywhere?
Yeah I thought that the GA salaries were grossly over-inflated. Even if a kid successfully graduated from the program, it's highly unlikely that he'd get anywhere near that in the MLS. I thought that Pat was still with the team as part of the backline.
Carrol was at the Battery trials last weekend here. Cant say he really stood out though, but I guess that is a good thing for a defender.
Here is the travel roster from BtB: GK: Crayton, Kocic, Thorpe, Platter Defenders: Burch, Namoff, McTavish, Janicki, Danso, Veris, Zaher Midfielders: Gomez, Fred, Olsen, Quaranta, Jacobson, Khumalo, Miller, Barklage, Mediate, Simms, Wallace Forwards: Moreno, Emilio, Doe, Pontius, N’Silu G - Crayton, Kocic, Thorpe, Platter RB - Namoff CB - McTavish, Danso CB - Janicki, Veris LB - Burch, Zaher RM - Quaranta, Khumalo, Mediate, Miller DM - Simms, Jacobson AM - Gomez, Olsen LM - Fred, Wallace, Barklage F - Moreno, Pontius F -Emilio, Doe, N'Silu DCU lists Wallace and Miller as midfielders although both may be more likely to get minutes at outside backs. Not on the initial list are Graczyk-G (acquired in Gomez trade) and Vernan-RB/RM (Jamaican who is rumored to join the team on trial) - also, any new centerback candidates.
Ange N'Silu has been signed pending approval of his P-1. http://www.behindthebadge.com/2009/02/ange-nsilu-signed.php#comments

FWIW, Ives has a "replay" of the 2006 draft based on players' performances since then and puts both McTavish and Burch as 1st round picks. Interesting, given the "consensus" here that they are, at best, adequate defenders.
