Had a nice conversation with Kevin Barney who called me at work, and while I'm cautiously optimistic about what he told me (emphasis on "cautiously"), I've decided to go back in for season tickets in 2009.
This is great news! I suggested in the marketing thread they do this (give STHs the option to move from the morgue to the Fort)..where the Revs modified it (correctly) is to keep the tickets on the same level, ie move same-tier tickets to the Fort. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16601519&postcount=25 and the source where I saw this idea originally used successfully: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16576229&postcount=1 Glad to see progress!
As this is not exactly what was in previous thread (on season ticket renewing form) I will not be walking around for a full day, wearing a newcastle shirt saying "Niall Quinn is a wanker" however, revsliverpool, i very may well need to apologize to you and say you were right.
Hey thanks man. Although that would've been awesome! Calling up current STHs is about the best course of action I'd hope for from the Revs at this point in the sales cycle. Here's hoping it's successful this season!
More than I expected from the revs, that's for sure. I didn't renew my season tickets, I'll probably get them come spring. However, if I had known that this was coming I may have just put this higher up my christmas list.
FWIW, I spoke to my ticket rep this evening, which is the 2nd time she has called me today. She said that "time is now a factor" so if you haven't talked to the ticket reps about this, I'd suggest you do so. She also asked that I send them anyone who is interested in "building a strong supporters section", so if you want to buy season tickets in the Fort, tell them Wolfp10 sent you
interesting. so wait. "time is now a factor" in the sense that Fort GA tickets might actually sell out?
My educated guess would be is they want to take care of the existing season ticket base before they are aggressive with promoting this change. I didn't as my ticket rep what she meant, so take it for what it's worth
I want to make sure I'm getting this right. I've never had season tickets before, so I never got any call or e-mail. I checked the Revs website and no changes have been made to the season ticket prices. If I wait, am I in danger of missing the $200 fort tickets? And if I tried to purchase them next week, would I be able to or are they currently only available to people that already have their season tix?
I doubt they will sell out of season tickets that soon. AFAIK you can order them at any time, I believe they are just giving STH who don't want to stand in the Fort a chance to opt out. I still haven't heard anything from my rep about a price change so I don't know about that. Call them and ask and get the right answers, they won't make you buy just because you call. Me too, but I can't get anyone to agree to buy and give them my name.
I like the fact that the FO is promoting the Fort.. Why don't they add $15-20 per Fort Season Ticket and include a MR membership and scarf.... I know that MR is an independent organization and respect that, but without having season tickets as a group....we have zero leverage....I'd just be moving my tickets and not have the representation... It's the same problem as a our forefathers...kind of ironic don't ya' think? We could organize 1 purchase in the name of MR and then they might see the importatnce of our presence...
We could organize 1 purchase in the name of MR and then they might see the importance of our presence... Isn't that the model employed by DCU's Screaming Beagles?
Who buys beer in the stadium? Except maybe during those damn triple headers. Or after the Rev give up a soft goal to blow a lead. Or when the referee makes a particularly egregious call against the Rev. Forget I asked that question.
Yes...I believe SC tags on some extra $$ to include the following: Membership...maybe scarf too. Tailgate food & Beer for all members to all home games (they allow kegs at RFK lots) $$ to go towards bus trips and away game viewing parties etc. and charity/fundraisers Some people might think this system works well, others would prefer to have their own tailgate etc.... I think Barra Brava has a different system...anyway SC & Barra Brava with their #s are able to call some shots and get some headway with negotiations with the FO regarding security and access etc.... Why do you think they're still allowed to stand at midfield? Flags...smoke bombs (don't think they allow these, but they get away with them every game) They are able to get consignment tix to resell in the PL at a discount...through word of mouth people learn to buy tix through the support group...the supporter group raises $$ and grows in #s each year plain and simple... Supporters group wins....FO wins (sell more tix)...all fans win when the #s and atmosphere in the supporters area is much better To rely on the FO of an organization to grow supporter #s ain't gonna happen in MLS...or any other sport probably... It's good to see the Revs FO finally realize that the FORT is somewhat important to the gameday experience.. I'm tired of the snow and look forward to seeing some live Footy and singin' in the Fort...any news on Breakers Double Headers at Gillette...although not overly exciting...they do raise the attendance #s and perhaps will drive all hot chicks to fort!
