Several people have also expressed interest in getting together Saturday mornings to watch Premiereship matches together. While these won't be official MLS PR get-togethers, if other people are also interested please post to this thread to let new transplants and current residents know!
East Valley Chapter meeting and MLS Cup Final viewing party East Valley Soccer Fans! MLS Phoenix Rising's East Valley Chapter will be holding its next chapter meeting Sunday November 18 during halftime of the 2007 MLS Cup Final. The chapter is gathering for a viewing party of the match as well. Kickoff is at 10 AM. The chapter meeting will start at approximately 11:30 AM. We will be gathering on the patio at RTO Sullivan's Sports Bar in Mesa. 1010 W Southern Ave # 1, Mesa, AZ 85210. Northwest corner of Southern and Westwood. Game details: Houston Dynamo takes on the New England Revolution at DC United's RFK Stadium, in a rematch of last season's Cup final won by Houston on penalties. Houston looks for its second franchise title, which would equal the number of titles of the on-hiatus San Jose Earthquakes, while the Revs look for their first Cup win in their fourth attempt. Meeting teaser: We will be discussing MLS franchise expansion around the country, namely Seattle, and what that means for Phoenix. We will also talk about the direction of MLS PR and organization plans to get in on the next round of expansion. Scott Sifferman East Valley Chapter Director MLS Phoenix Rising
East Valley November Chapter Meeting Recap Hey East Valley MLSPR Members, We had an enjoyable late morning get-together at RTO Sullivan's last Saturday to watch the MLS Cup Final. The Dynamo won their second consecutive and second overall Cup over the New England Revs 2-1. The Revs were not able to add to the success of the 2007 Boston sports market. Instead they are quickly becoming the Buffalo Bills of MLS! At halftime we held our chapter meeting. A brief recap: 1) Upcoming MLS PR Events: A) USA-Sweden road trip. The US National Team takes on Sweden at the Home Depot center in Carson, CA on Saturday, January 19 of next year. MLSPR is looking for interest from the membership to put together a road trip for the game. If you would be interested to join our group for this match please send an email to: mlspr_events@bjwcs.com. B) USA-Mexico viewing party. The US National team will be playing against Mexico in Houston on February 6, 2008. MLSPR is planning viewing parties at several locations in the Valley for fans to attend and hang out. 2) USA-Sam's Army Scarves. We have formed the Arizona Desert Brigade Chapter of Sam's Army, the US National Team supporters club. In preparation for the Sweden road trip some scarf designs have been suggested for our group. Visit https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=612015 to see some sample designs, comment on them, and add your own! 3) MLSPR Membership list updates. Over the next month or so, MLSPR will be updating its membership lists to have an accurate count of active and inactive members. We will be sending out emails to members to ask them to join one of the chapters so that the board can better serve the specific needs of the respective chapter members. Please be on the lookout for the email and be sure to respond! 4) MLSPR Board vacancies. MLSPR is still looking for volunteers to head up the following committees: A) Central/North Valley chapter director B) Communications Director C) Latino Outreach Director We are also always looking for volunteers for all committees. If you are interested in being more involved with MLSPR, email mlsphoenixrising@cox.net. 5) Chapter Meetings. We will be planning bi-monthly chapter meetings, usually centered around soccer matches or events. The next East Valley chapter meeting will be some time in January. Be on the lookout for information here on BigSoccer and at the MLSPR website, www.mlsphoenixrising.com. 6) Update from PHX Soccer Development. Dana Gagnon was able to attend our get-together Saturday and provided us with updates on the work that he and PHX Soccer Development are doing. PSD has been doing a lot of market research and has been working to establish sponsorships. PSD is also starting to look at a potential USL expansion side to start in Phoenix while continuing to work for an MLS franchise. The USL side will be a benefit to Phoenix as it will get the market prepared for top-flight soccer and will create a team for the Valley to support. This is still in the preliminary stages and by no means superceeds PSD's stated purpose of bringing MLS Soccer to Phoenix. Thank you to those who attended. It was a lot of fun chatting with you and watching the match together. I look forward to seeing you again in January! Scott Sifferman MLS Phoenix Rising Director, East Valley Chapter

I would love to attend one of your viewing parties sometime. Unfortunately I cannot make it for the USA vs Mexico match. I will be in Columbus,OH.
Are you going to Claddagh's or Ruby's before the game? My Bro and I will be at the downtown holiday inn so we will be at Claddagh's. I am bringing an AZ flag, so if you see us come and a say hey.
Hello, I'm (obviously) new here. The above post is a few months old, so I just wanted to see if anyone can confirm the above schedule for watching matches is still accurate? How many people typically attend? Thanks.
Yes, the above schedule is still accurate. We hold viewing parties for all U.S. qualifiers -- Saturday qualifiers are at Churchill's and Wednesday qualifiers are at Buffalo Wings and Rings. Our largest group was 35+ and our smallest was 10. Crowds for Wednesday matches are smaller due to inconvenient start times and work conflicts. Hope you can join us for USA-MEX on August 12!
