To be honest, Ribery has been having a great season.
It seems like Ribery is to Bayern as Messi is to Barcelona. Ribery missed the start of the season and Bayern were down as far as 11th position in the standings, iirc. But since his return from injury Bayern have looked a changed side and are out of top spot only on goal difference.

I doubt you've ever seen him play.

I watch bayern regularly and well they depend a whole lot on ribery, imo not as much as we do on messi, and well tbh Bundesliga is not la liga, its just one step below, dont take it the wrong way i enjoy bundesliga alot its fun as hell. Ribery should be in the convo of Balon d'or next year if bayern win the bundesliga and go far in CL.

I do. And I love me some Ribery, wonderful player. He is playing very well as you said but he's no Messi, the closest thing atm possibly but Leo is ahead of him, and it is not close, by a certain margin. But feel free to disagree.

Sure I disagree. As mentioned before Ribery is as influential for Bayern as Messi for Barcelona. Messi is better at dribbling, scoring and has a better ball-control but there's not a large gap between them in those areas. In my opinion Ribery has more explosiveness and above all a superior work-rate. Both have equal playmaking abilities. I still think Messi is better but Ribery is close.

Influential has no forebearing on ability. Gudjohnsen is average, put him in a 3rd division side and he's a star. Close? Maybe but it is not a fine line IMO.

I can't see your point. Put Gudjohnsen in Bayern and he would still be average. Put Ribery in Barcelona or in any other big club and he would still be a star. You can't compare both players. In Ribery's case his large influence on Bayern's game is an undisputable proof of his ability.

Fail. Great players have made moves and not made any impact to their new clubs. Not saying Ribery would do it but shit happens.

Andriy Shevchenko for example when he was at Chelsea...

p/s: I don't compare Ribery to Sheva.. just an example..

Bayern Munich has a system designed around Ribery...same with Messi at Barca. Take either players out of those systems and it is very likely that they won't perform as well (at least until they get acclimated). Simple logic.

Wait a sec, hendrix, I don't know if anyone has remarked on this, but you get the fancy BS subscription with the new XL avatar the same day poor jfcule has to sport the LPB avatar as part of his lost bet vs. macaluca. What's with that?

I'd go in solidarity, but no one would see the puny jpg in my avatar. (Hell, you can barely tell I have Floquet de Neu (Snowflake), the albino gorilla, in there now.) But why not inaugurate your big avatar by showing some love for the mod? (ours, not maca ;))

For some reasons French players usually underperform in Barcelona (Dugarry, Blanc, Petit and to a certain extent Henry are examples of that) BUT I bet Ribery would be the exception (with Giuly... maybe) - his style of play would suit pretty well to Barcelona's fast, offensive game IMHO. I can't see why he would not succeed there really.

Ribery would kill on the left side at Barca.

David Silva would be pretty damn good on the left, and a lot cheaper than Ribery.

But honestly, David Silva is no Ribery, David Silva is good, but not quite up there with Ribery.

By the way, did anybody else hear of the rumors of Wenger wanting Ribery at Arsenal. Isnt he to old.

He has been over the limit for like 7 years :p.
BTW I'd rather have silva, the french dont have great history with us (abidal and henry might be changing that though) its just he is spanisha and i would rather have guy from the country.

Uh, jcvf90, you mean the Radiohead song? The one who'd be requesting a REM song right now would be LPB ("Everybody Hurts"). :p

And speaking of talented left wingers Barça's been linked to, Arshvin is heading to Arsenal for 21 million euros. It's their Hleb replacement--and Cesc replacement apparently since he's now out for 4 months... How much did we pay for Hleb again?
