I wasnt sure where to put this thread but I just wanted to have a place to comment on the look of the new stadium.

I really like the look now that we actually see it with players on it. The fans behind the goal are pretty close and seems a good place to have a a supporters group.

I guess I'm out of the loop, but I had to look up just what in the hell a Rio Tinto stadium was.

Thought it was something out of a Lone Ranger story of days gone by.

I knew OF the new RSL stadium - didn't know it had such a name.

My first impressions are that it has probably the most "European" (oh no!) vibe of all the stadiums that I've seen. Very asthetically pleasing IMO.

Yeah, that's a nice stadium. Credit where it's due.

I really like the way it looks from the outside and on the inside. Seems like that franchise is on the right track. Have a shirt sponsership, stadium, stadium name, a decent side, and a pretty cool owner. I couldnt see on TV but do they have a supporters section? I didnt hear really or see one.

I heard a lot of drums, a decent amount of singing, and some very annoying and persistent bagpipes.

Too bad they couldn't beat a 10 man NYRB team to christen the new digs.

Now, for the much larger question looming: Being in Salt Lake City, can you buy beer at Rio Tinto?

Only if it's a private social club, which is what all 'bars' out there are known as. You pay a one-time 'membership fee' when you go into the bar for the first time (usually $5.00 and you get a card) and then you can drink. Unfortunately, most domestics are 3.2, but the imports are all normal. I do believe, however, that there's a ballot issue this November on elimitating all that mess.

But I bet you can get fry sauce there! mmmmmm..... fry sauce.

Why doesn't our stadium have a roof like all the other new stadiums? ;)

You know, in all seriousness, I really like Crew Stadium though there is nothing that really stands out as unique. Given the current look of new stadiums, the current Crew Stadium could take several small steps to make it a little more updated.

I wouldn't propose the canvass cover necessarily but you could add to the upper deck portion of the stadium to clean it up or close it in, make a change in some areas to chair seating, add the thin electronic display boards in front of the upper deck portion such as the Hunt Group added in Dallas. I wouldn't add chair seats in Nordecke, waist of money. There are a bunch of small things though that could be done over time to make it more pleasing to the eye.

I do like Rio Tinto, very nice. I didn't think the bag pipes were any more annoying than the trumpets or any other instrument played during the game. Certainly was unique.

IndyFootballer, good to see you repping the Massive. Even if LA is before us in your list, we are happy to have you as a convert to our side! (and we do understand that you liked LA first, and I at least honor that)

I do believe Lamar had said he wanted the ribbon signage like they have at Toyota park etc, added to Crew stadium. Hopefully Clark got the memo.

My understanding is that, yes, the sell beer in the stadium.

I believe the RSL supporters group is the Loyalists. They were pretty vibrant when the club first kicked off.

Yea really. It is annoying as shit. We dont care if you hate Rangers and Loyalists and Torries or whatever you always b*tch about. It makes you sound really paranoid. Save that BS for Celtic boards or something
