 Somehow I sincerely doubt that. (And I think her German import could take me in a fair fight anyway. The wiry type, with what looks like an unusual centre of gravity.) And "Idgie" is Lingor, anyhow. I'll pass on that one too .

There are just so many options here... *sigh* But I shall refrain.

Now that leaves a lot of room for imagination. But since we're supposed to be talking football here, I'll ask no further.

Shame. Our "white Brazilian", who incidentally is now one of the WC 2011 ambassadors, comes across so nice and motherly. Although she has had me confused ever since I discovered that she eeriely resembles a character from the German stock soap, "Lindenstraße".

    I wish.

Unless you've seen the topless pics of her. My mother never did that kind of thing, but from various Mediterranean holidays (and, indeed, trips to Germany), I know Germans are different. In fact, our friends' main grumbles at Eurogames in Barcelona were about 1) thieves stealing everything that wasn't nailed down and 2) all the German dykes taking their tops off and hanging them in a tree next to them while they were sitting in a bar trying to have a quiet drink.

And now you've mentioned that soap, I can almost hear redcard pounding the keyboard trying to work out how to get German cable. :p

Incidentally: which character are you claiming that Lingor resembles?

Ah, I think I remember. Well, still, compared to most of the others on the national team (even with their tops on).

    Yep *proud grin*

But mind the disclaimer: I don't consider myself a German dyke by your definition. :D

Anna Ziegler (played by Irene Fischer). But beware: She hasn't been her usual cheerful self recently since she accidentally killed her daughter's sort-of-ex boyfriend :)rolleyes:), so our "Idgie" might not appreciate the comparison.

    Having a life? Me?

Intriguing. Do you contest the "German", the "dyke" or the "quick to disrobe"? :p

Exceptionally funny, since the first link I got when googling was this:

    http://burlesquepoetryhour.blogspot.com/2006/04/anna-lauren-take-it-off.html

"Anna Ziegler reads many sex poems . . .
. . . and then takes off her belt"

Ah, that's just cruel. But it's making me laugh myself silly. :D

    *looooolll*

Ah, you see, Germans can also be discrete. I cannot possibly reveal all my secrets during my first week here.

Nobody has "secrets" here. Bless you. And I have to say, a discrete German would certainly be a new one for me. Like a gregarious Finn. Or a unicorn.

But one of my best friends is a German who hates beer. That's a little exotic, I think.

    More for me then.

Kinda sorta. I do get a motherly vibe from her. She's so cute.

    Well, there's that. :D

But that could tie in quite well with the mother thing ... Hmmmmm.

Not quite. Nordby, Stensland, Ragnhild, maybe. But not Lingor.

She is, isn't she (which just goes to show how open-minded I am and what a mature, varied taste I've got). What a shame that she has ended her career. The young ones just don't do it for me in the same way - but of course that may be due to my age rather than their lack thereof.

Why must I, as per usual, ALWAYS point out the obvious, Lingor is clearly related to Joan Crawford .... take away the make-up. why she's a spitting image of Joanie ...

Did you see the other UK folks mentioned?

    http://www.womensprosoccer.com/playerlist.aspx?team=

-- Enoila Aluko (WPS playing rights assigned to St. Louis)
-- Emma Byrne (WPS playing rights assigned to Boston Breakers)
-- Alex Scott (WPS playing rights assigned to Chicago Red Stars)

(I may have to take back the whole 'Smith's not coming' thing.)

    Oh, and the lone German:
-- Anja Mittag (WPS playing rights assigned to Bay Area)

I'd be happy, but ... I got burned by the first league, so my heart's definitely not in it this time round.

Awww, ********. Jenson's starting to make sense.

    :D

Essence? What is this, 'Dr. Strangelove?'

    I'm so tired I don't give a ******** about anything right now.

There's no way they didn't know WPS was snooping around their players.

Of course, the way various clubs and players are reacting, it's going to be absolutely fascinating to see how it all goes down.

Wow! (Together with Erika and Formiga from Brazil, incidentally.) But since she's been referred to as the "rising young star" this is perhaps not so surprising. Good for her - let's see what happens. Although Germany has been loath to see anyone (else) from the national team leave the country for greener pastures in the run-up to WWC 2011.

Re "essence", it may be simply that my language skills are deserting me here, but I have a feeling that it is a concept not everyone can grasp. *sigh* Well, in this particular case anyway. So I shall not attempt to elaborate any further.

Since this is the realm of groundless speculation...

Hand Cream are trying to entice Marta to sign with them by offering her an "ambassador" role in a project they're starting in South America. They're also making noises about being interested in signing several new players. Now, if they're in the market for a new defender, say... Would they be trying to offer the kind of extended package that LA would find difficult to compete with?

Well, Emma B isn't from the UK...well her club is....so, ok....

Eniola is an interesting one. Alex, I'm not surprised at...I guess that depends on the 'Smith's not coming thing'.

The FA Board have just approved a Super League in England for the Summer 2010 and central contracts for England players. They expect this will prevent players for leaving for the WPS. Some people involved in WPS were not happy about names being released, either.

You say your heart isn't in it - I want it to work. I want all leagues to work...but it is a little worrying how it is coming across as slightly dishevelled in its organisation and strategy. Intentions are good. Hope it's just teething problems.

So... Can the clubs still trade "rights" at this stage? That might have a bearing on some negotiations.

I think they can. Though to be honest I find the whole thing baffling. If someone suggests a draft to me I put on an other layer or shove a stuffed snake along the bottom of the door.

Presumably one you made in school? See, you really do have the capacity to make that nice Frankenstein hat for Angerer as a tribute! Send it to me and I'll take it to a match. (Djurgården were actually signing autographs after last week's game. I didn't hang around with jocasta and the rest of the shrill children, but they seemed to be doing a roaring trade.)

Actually, I made a furry seal. I only tell you this because we are enroaching rapidly on the magic 5 0 0.

Were they swapping 'roars' with Taz?

Does Jocasta's autograph book have a self-decorated cover? How sweet. Who was she jossling to get first dibs on? Awww.

Angerer. Whilst trying to play hard to get, of course. All "Tsk. *sigh* *huff*... I'm only here waiting for you because my beloved Taz is busy with the woman in the wheelchair".

Jeez. I guess I have to admit that she must 'have something' (and I don't mean something she needs to go to a clinic about...well not yet anyhow). Everyone on here is all over her like a rash...the sort of rash you need to go to a clinic about...apparently.

Hey, I'm not. She doesn't do a thing for me. Although that blonde that usually hangs around her... Hey, wait: Did I just make positive noises about a blonde? I may have to shoot myself. [Oops. No offense, red. You know I think you're a doll really.]

Now, here goes! I'm hoping something magical happens when we hit 500. Or at least something catastrophic. But I think redcard's just been winding us up about it and we're all going to be sadly disappointed.
