    He is a playmaker.

Saw him play against Haiti, and gave him great reviews (look for them on these pages). He has great control of his left foot and reads the game well (that nite he made 2 long passes from side to side that clearly prove his accuracy and vision).

Chavez won't be used as a playmaker, but as a side midfielder (right or left), looking to join the other playmaker ... but with more defensive duties as he has the strength to go back and forth. I would like to see Chavez as a mediapunta .. even thou the DT thinks he is not a forward. He is very similar to Tevez in a lot of ways ...

Gaitan will soon take Gracian's place as the sub playmaker behind Roman. This was a Chronicle of an Announced Death

Chavez's true position is not enganche, it's right midfielder

From his own words ... he played as an enganche. But at the top level he lacks the vision to become the lone playmaker ... he is much better being used as a secondary playmaker to build 1-2s or face goal.

yes, I think it's going to be some friendly tournament against Zenit St. Petersburg. I think it's stupid idea, but apparently the winner would get $5 million so I hope we win as that is a hefty prize

I think it's a nice game. Zenit is a good team and Boca won't just write it off like most of Manchester United's players did.

Yeah, they got a superstar in Arshavin, who played for Russia at the Euros. He's really good with the ball, he looks like he could be Argentine.

Having watched the Zenit-Man Utd game live, I can tell you that the English media's excuse that Fergie's team weren't "up for it" was simply that: a sorry excuse.

They dearly wanted to succeed in taking the Supercup home this time around. Rooney & Tevez ran their socks off @ break-neck speed, chasing down everything & anything that moved. Ferguson's pre-match story, desribing how he dared never again to experience witnessing the opposition celebrate, as Lazio did in Man Utd's Supercup defeat of 1999, like they'd just won the WC.

They were just soundly beaten by the better team on the night. No excuses. Zenit are no mugs as they showed with dominating performances (ask German titans Bayern Munich about Zenit's capabilities) in last season's UEFA cup tournament. Ferguson, close friend of Zenit's UEFA final victims, Rangers manager Walter Smith, would not have underestimated the Russians.

We need the defense to step up. The card on Seba was purely from laziness on his part. We really need a strong second half.

The main problem the team is having is that THEY DON'T SHOOT ON GOAL. They always give one last pass ... the NT syndrome. The only one that is not scared to do so is this kid Gaitan.

Despite Seba's unfair red and the hand/pk on Palacio, the team looked like wanting to regulate the game at the start and paid for it.

Having lost the unbeaten streak at home for the local tournie, and now placing mostly youngsters and subs tomorrow, can the team keep up with the unbeaten record at home for int'l games? It goes back to 2003.

Viatri is certainly feeling the pressure ... fine when he felt he would get chances. A different story is to carry the weight of having to score, always. We need to sign another CF and stop the BS. Can't be there was no CF sub available yesterday.

And btw, just a stat, we are winless with Roman on the field this semester ...

I'm sorry VIP but how was that Red unfair? He had zero business diving in for a tackle he no chance of winning. He was burned and made a bad decision. As far as Roman, I noticed it just didn't want to say it. I'm not sure how much of that just isn't coincidence? True his play hasn't been world beater but he does seem to be coming around.

Hmm ... I saw a yellow, as the foul was in the middle and wasn't a blatant nor aggressive enuff. It was a tactical foul. A direct red? I think it was excesive. A yellow would had settled it an no one would had complained ... not even Sergio Massa.

As to Roman, surely it is coincidental. But the main problem is that Roman has been carrying, since last semester (early on, remember?), the syndrome of his injury to his right thigh.

He is afraid of hitting the ball hard because he feels it can come back. The question is, how can this disappear? Only one way ... resting.

But Roman has decided he wants to play everything that comes on hand. Be it WCQ, Olympics or Boca games ... the latter when the first 2 give him the time.

How does this affect the team? That he doesn't shoot on goal!. There have been numerous ocasions in which Roman is approaching the box and he isn't fooling anyone with a shot on goal as he has to pass. This dilutes Boca's chances of scoring as defenders worry only on the target peeps and don't panic on a shot on goal.

It also reflects on his poor free kicks and corners. He is not forcing his leg but rather sending "floaters". The exception was the tieing free kick against Arsenal in the last minute of the Recopa game. And even then his shot wasn't that powerful.

In summary, Roman's personal achievements, in terms of games and leaving Boca as the last priority, are affecting Boca's game. He had no pre-season ... no rest for that right leg to be ok again ... And this holds true for the NT too, Roman is far from the dangerous player he can be.

I don't see this changing this semester ... unless Ischia grows the b@lls to give him a break for a couple weeks at least. But that will have to be after the WCQ anyways, Roman will want to play them.

Thanks for response VIP. With regard to the red, my view is that if he needed to make a technical foul then just grab the jersey not go in like a cannon ball. That said very nice play by BOCA on the gol by Forlin. Proof that if you make a nice play on the defensive end you get rewarded:)
