Pablo...prepare to Rep me because the game tomorrow will be on Setanta online at 7:30 am (and of course, I have to coach my daughter's team at 9:00 am and will miss the game)

For you non-Setanta folks, more than likely, it will be streamed here for free

-Also, rumors are out there that Doyle is going to Aston Villa. Maybe this is why we bought that other Irish striker from Cork City this week.

Early kickoff...argh. At least it means I'll probably get to see it, though.

Yep, the game will be streamed live at the link I gave above at 7:45am for those without Setanta. Unbelievable that we've had 2 of the first 4 games available to watch online.

Thanks for the link whipsmart. I can actually watch this game. Here is Reading's lineup.

3-5-2 Don't know the exact positioning in the midfield.
    -----------------USA-----------------
    Rosenior------Ivar-------Sonko
    Hunt---Cisse---Harper--Convey--Kebe
    -------------Lita--------Doyle

Terrible half. No defense at all and we can't do anything at all in midfield. Doyle misses a penalty and his confidence is now at an all time low. Despite the terrible half, it can easily be 2-2.

Thanks for the link Whip, you've been repped. I taped the match on Setanta and just finished watching the spectacle.

The ref pointed to the spot 3 times and one could argue that not one of them was deserved. The one he should have called, a Charlton handball in the box, occured after the ref had already filled his quota.

All in all a pitiful performance. Doyle can't even score from the spot and if Hunt wasn't gifted with a "do-over" he wouldn't have scored either. Bright spots were Convey's decent crosses and Noel Hunt's hustle. I'd list Sonko among the positives, but he made an ill-advised lunge when he was sitting on a yellow. Maybe we should move him up as a lone striker. He seems to be the only one who knows how to find the back of the net.

One more thing. Hunt looked like a fish out of water playing LB. That gapping hole needs to be filled now.

Sorry to be player specific, but can someone catch me up on Convey's situation? I'm a big fan from his former team in the states. DC United. He joined when he was 16.

How is the recovery from knee injury? I hear that a year to 18 months after the surgery is typical to get back to form.

Will he see a lot of pitch this season? His last year in the Championship was stellar, but he was in top form and the team and coach were hitting on all cylinders. A lot of changes since then.

Please don't hold back on the honest answers.

Towards the end of last season, Convey repeatedly stated he was ready to play. Perhaps Coppell thought otherwise or was still trying to protect Convey, but we didn't get to see much of him.

This year, he didn't play in the opener, but he did start and play about 80 minutes in each of the last 2 matches. He looked dangerous against Plymouth, but couldn't convert. He sent 2 shot inches over the crossbar. A few nice runs and a few decent crosses. He picked up an assist in the last match against Charlton, but it's not a good situation having Hunt play behind him as a left back. Hunt hustles, but he's no LB, and the 2 don't compliment each other.

It'll be interesting to see who plays on the left if/when Reading picks up a real LB. Hunt is tenacious, but Convey's crosses create scoring opportunities. Unfortunatly our center back is the only one who has made the most of those opportunities.

Convey actually played all 90 minutes against Nottingham Forrest in the opener - although it's understandable that PC missed him because he was very quiet - the only thing worth mentioning, unfortunately, were a couple of chances that he skied.

He's been generally average in the first and last games. Last game he had a couple of shots - one looked fierce, but was very well defended - and one fantastic run back to save a break away. He was very lively in the Plymouth game (the one I haven't been able to see), as PC mentioned, and according to radio commentary and fan rating on Sky. I'm hoping he finds consistency in form - I agree he would benefit from pairing with a true full back - if he gets the chance over S Hunt. I also thinks he does better when the forwards don't play the left line and open up that side of the field. He's also back to taking some of the corners and free kicks - a good sign for full recovery.

Thanks for the feed back gents.

Sounds like he is fully recovered, but now trying to gel with the current squad. Hunt at left back is a waste of his talents. I thought he was moving to Sunderland.

So quiet that Reading even forgot to include him in their match report line-up. ;)

 Guess you don't want to piss off the media guys (or you can actually do something on the field before the last minutes of the game).
