According to Goff quoting Thomas Rongen, he's a danish based player that got called up to our U-20's. I found a Mikkel Diskerud at Staebak in Norway. He's a 1990. http://www.stabak.no/content/view/2162/361/ http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Mikkel+Diskerud&btnG=Google+Search
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Do you have a link to the Goff article? I read his site regularly but must have missed it.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Has Steve Buscemi ever filmed a movie in Denmark? The judge wouldn't even require a paternity test for this case.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Honestly, there's nothing there that ain't here. Just a short mention of the player's name.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_5963783.html I rule. (rule=I can use google.)
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Marcelo 'The thing is' Balboa is asst coach? I hope he explains soccer concepts to the players on the practice field better than he does on television.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Mikkel went the full 90 and assisted on all 3 goals in the U-20's 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland yesterday. Dare I say cap him now? Match report: http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_6094863.html
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Ah, I see they edited that report. Those first two assists belonged to Morales previously.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Well that's a pretty good start! Let's see what he does for an encore. That, and maybe a first-team appearance for his club. But like I said, certainly a good start.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud I typed "cap him now" with a hint of sarcasm but three assists from an unknown player who may or may not have Norwegian citizenship is a pretty big deal. I agree, let's see what he and the rest of the team can do against Portugal, because that'll be a stern test. This is certainly shaping up to be an intriguing U-20 cycle is it not? With our European based players and then these 2 unknown players who were born in Europe. Diskerud could become synonymous with "Rossi" in Norway if this pans out.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud The US u18's played Norway yesterday in Portugal. Here is Norway's lineup from the US Soccer match report. http://ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_6422549.html I wonder if this is Mikkel Diskerud from our u20 team?
Re: Mikkel Diskerud That punk! And also... how is a starter on the U.S. U20 team a sub on the Norway U18 squad? Granted the U20 squad was a B-team... Reading through the boxscore, I didn't recognize any of the US U18 names. Is this also a B-squad?
Re: Mikkel Diskerud It is the same Mikkel Diskerud. Below is Norway's lineup from the Norwegian federation website. http://www.fotball.no/t2.aspx?p=53178&cat=51835&x=1&a=226988 Norges lag (4-3-3): Ørjan H. Nyland - Remi Johansen, Stefan Strandberg, Jonathan Tollås (Alexander Solli 90.min), Vegard Landaas - Anders Kondrasen (Anders Karlsen 46.min (Simen Melhus 71.min)), Magnus Wolf Eikrem, Preben Mankowitz (Mikkel Diskerud 46.min) - Mohammed Keita (Christer Jensen 46.min), Jo Inge Berget, Pål A. Helland (Kenneth Jensen 77.min).
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Maybe he was just using the US call in as leverage to be included in Norway's youth setup? I'm disappointed. I was optimistic about his prospects.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud It`s the same guy. I got no idea why he is playing both for Norway and the US, guess he has not decided which one h wants to play for.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Well if he ever wants to play in a World Cup he should play for us. I'm not saying he can't make the Norway squad, just that it's a safer bet that we'll qualify. Although he might feel like a mercenary playing for us.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Can a player change youth national teams more than once, or like go back and forth until he's irrevocably cap-tied?
Re: Mikkel Diskerud I think as long as he's only playing in friendlies and never plays in a cap-tying game that there's nothing keeping him from switching back and forth. I'm not certain on that, however.
Re: Mikkel Diskerud Yeah i think he will have an easyer time getting to the WC with the US then with Norway. The NTs are of comperabel strength with maybe a slight edge to the US and your qualification gropes are much easier. But really playing for a NT shud be about playing for your country not whatever place gives you the best shot at success. But then only Diskerud can know what country he feel is his.
