I think the conversation went like this:

Rob Clark: Laurie will take 1/2 of what you made last year?

    LC: That's crazytalk. No way.

    Rob Clark: Ok you're fired.

LC: B-b-b-b-ut I have a guaranteed bloody contract! You owe me a whole year of pay!

Rob Clark: We're not responsible for any contracts that Bankrupt Soccer LLC entered into. Sorry. Feel free to file another lawsuit against Steve Donner. We have all the paperwork right here if you want.

USL seemed to indicate that all contracts were transfered over. Are you saying that they are not?

Maybe player contracts were, but coach's contracts? Who knows. Thursday or Friday the assistant-coach was let go.

They probably contacted fotosearch and bought rights for a copyrighted logo.

    That's really really sad, though.

    That is a disgrace. Seriously.

Personally, I don't know that the logo is an improvement, especially with that news. Can somebody explain to me what those random stars are? If they are indeed for titles, why are they so strangely placed?

I think they should hire Middleton our former Gaffer. He should be on anyone's shortlist to be a manager of a club. He's a fantastic coach.

Middeton was certianly a great College and Men's league coach, but his coaching style will not work well with professionals. You will not be able to belittle players in the pros and get the best out of them. Unless you see him changing his stlye he should stick with college and men's leagues.

Jeff Diveronica says it will probably be former Rhino Darren Tilley.

    Darren Tiiley!

That guy said one of the funniest comments I had ever heard. I was working a soccer camp up in Rochester in '99 and the director asked Darren to say a few words to the kids.

Now, understand that Darren was phenomonal with the kids all day. His own son, who was a toddler at the time was kicking around with the 5-6 years olds.

Darren stands up and says "For most of you kids, it's too late for you. Maybe some of you younger kids still have a chance to master the necessary skills."

The director basically hooked him off the stage. But Darren was right, he was just too honest.

I don't think he belittled the players for us at QCFC. So I don't know what you're talking about.

They're holding a press conference today. It's going to be Darren Tilley.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd it's official: Rhinos Name Darren Tilley New Head Coach

I like this move. It follows the pattern that has lead to success in much of the USL1 lately, hiring recently retired players as coaches.

True. I'm guessing next season the logo will change. Your new owner Clark should get plenty of feedback that the logo needs a couple more drafts and ideas.

The Rhinos should have a logo like the Socceroos. The Socceroos have a kangaroo and emu on the logo. The style is simple and not embarrassing.

    Re: Regime Changes...

Sorry to chine in guys but I just read and found out about this.I knew Laurie and his wife Marci personally since he was a player and then a coach in San Jose. I know he can be tough with players and if they don't do what he wants they're usually gone. His troubles with Eric Wynalda were the result of him being fired from the San jose Clash back in 1997 as Waldo hired a plane to fly over Spartan Stadium reading FIRE CALLOWAY.......He has told me personally "it was all the fault of that bastard"..........

Anyone know if buget cuts were the real reason on why he was fired or did it have to do with his attitude toward players?

    Re: Regime Changes...

I talked to Rob Clark in person yesterday, he is an amazing guy. The average joe. He says I can't believe someone would think that crap. (Budget cutting) Its not it at all. Calloway needed to go. He was not liked in Rochester.

What exactly did he do to not be liked?

    Bump.

Can someone provide som insight on what PAETEC is like these days. Some of the game reports from the home opener mentioned improved concessions. I haven't been there in a couple of years now, but I recall it being solid, with a few things that turned me off - parking, unfinished open feeling to it, and primarily the terrible trailer-for-a-locker room situation. Is that still the case with the locker rooms?

Yes, the locker rooms are still in mobil units. The stadium is still not finished. However, they have gotten rid of the trailers they were using for staff offices and done some things to spruce up the office building.

There is a meeting between the new ownership and the city this week to talk about the release of the final $4million of state funds. Hopefully that will get done and the stadium can finally be completed.

A lot of the buzz that went with the team when they were at Frontier Field was back last night. The new concessionaire is fantastic and a lot of the local food and beer vendors they brought in are fantastic. There is some actual money put into gameday presentation, so things look better from the get go.

Thanks for the update. I am thinking I might make it up for another game in July, not sure (a solid 4 hour drive for me from Poughkeepsie area). Anyway, I hope that some of that money is going into permanent locker rooms? I would love to see that place full and rocking, maybe a big ticket US Open Cup game...?
