Great call..love that band..they used to play in Sunnyside on Queens Blvd..Shane McGowan used to show up..
LOL...he used to live in the Irish Rover over in Astoria,,now he goes to the Keyes ? in Astoria..The owner is his road manager here in the states
Quick story. The last time the Pogues came to Boston. A group of us went to the show. Right before they came on stage my buddy says that he say a newspaper story that the entire band had gone to rehab and were off the drink. I said something like "You mean everybody but Shane" (but with lots of f-bombs) and he said that all of them were sober. I almost left the show. Minutes later out comes the band and they are clear eyed and clear thinking. I was shocked. Then out comes Shane with a half empty bottle of wine and clearly bombed out of his mind. I can't describe my joy. It was a great show.
ha ha - great story - he sounds hammered in every song - he still is found in pubs hammered! I like that Black 47 is still out playing! I saw them a few months ago - one of them opened a bar and thy played - they looked old but sound great!
i must have read over it, 'cuz we didn't all forget The Beach Boys for f**k sake! lol ...and what about Los Lonely Boys...good band...def. heavily influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Santana, and Los Lobos....although i need cosmos to translate a few songs for me!...lol...
Personally music went downhill after the early 90's. I hated alternative. I liked some hip hop but not to fond of it. Old Skool rap maybe. I guess I'm just a rocker at heart. I want to hear guitars, drum solos, someone singing, a power ballad or two and chix swinging their bras in the air, short skirts and high heels! I know Woodside KNOWS what I'm talking about! lol
Jethro Tull anybody? Here's a great Kings of Leon song "Trani":
Nick we missed this one: Happy Mondays, The Fratellis, Inspiral Carpets and the Fun Lovin' Criminals are the first bands to be announced to play the Versus Cancer charity gig, set to take place at Manchester’s MEN Arena on February 23.
The second video is a hair band..but Ozzy and Randy Rhodes [one of the most underrated guitarist of all time imo] we're amazing..
I think he's thinking about Glam Rock like Poison. Hell many hard rock bands were glam at some point. Look at G-n-R.
or the original US glam band..all the way from Jackson Heights Queens[well 2 of the original members] New York Dolls...
every hair band in LA bite Johnny Thunders look...even Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols copied JT..a true Queens and New York Legend
I could never understand how the FLC never made it big here. They were, are the true kings of Rap-Rock..and those boys are cool as feck too..thats my Irish-Puerto Rican brother Huey ..
