This is the place not for debates about pros and cons of the game but of the play of the career mode. Topics of player scouting, player EXP development, transfers, team chemistry, transfers and other workings of the career mode.

Best way I have found to make money is to keep salaries low. Each year there seems to be a little trick that allows you to make lots of money. Last year it was the ability to buy and sell people in the same transfer period, even to the team you bought the player from. This year it is the ability to sign players for much lower salaries then their market price, I bought a guy who was 75,000 salary and worked it down to 3500, and have been able to do so without fail yet.

Here is how you do it. You get a lot more bids during transfer seasons this year. You are purposefully going to low ball transfers and salaries down to the min to get them rejected. Once they are rejected go to "negotiation history" under the "transfer central" menu. renegotiate and give them a fair transfer (20% above market value and drop the salary down even further to the min. amount again. Just continue to drop the salary and raise the transfer until they accept.

I have a 26 man roster 20 of them are part of the best 25 in the game including the top 6. The salary is 250,000 a game.

As your coaching prestige gets higher you get better sponsorship offers.

I have worked up to a 10 and got a 1.4 mill a game sponsorship earning 1.1 each game.

From there you just spend money and keep your overall salaries down. You will build up enough money to eventually buy anyone you want.

Which platform is this on? I have the PC version and I find that in a transfer period, if I bid for a player, I am limited to offering between 50% and 150% of the proposed transfer amount and current salary. For instance, I see a player's transfer fee is 1 million and salary is 20,000. I can offer a transfer fee between 0.5 and 1.5 million and a salary between 10,000 and 30,000. Can't see how I could set a player on a 75K salary to sign for less than a tenth of that as I can't offer him something in that range.

I've only done a couple of transfer attempts so far this year as I just got started. One transfer was rejected because the other team 'didn't have enough players on the roster' and another transfer was accepted on the first try.

One trick I found useful in the past when a player is 'stubborn' is offer a bit of a bonus. For instance, I have found that a player will reject $25K/match, but if I offer $20K/match with a 10% goal bonus (or clean sheet bonus), they promptly accept. Quite useful, especially using the goal bonus for some of the midfielders who rarely score. That bonus just seems to really get them excited.

You can still buy Free Agents and turn right around and sell them every Transfer Period to make ridiculous money. I'm so disappointed in this release. Hardly anything knew and NOTHING fixed.

Yup, that is the way to bring in the dough. After a few years you can have your personnel/stadium maxed out, then go for the young players and they will come up quick.

I play on the PS3. The 50%-150% range is the same. If it gets rejected then I go to "negotiation history" and make the new bid from there. The middle of the range is now what your failed bid, allowing you to drop the salary even lower.

As far as buying and selling players on the PS3 you absolutely cannot buy and sell players in the same season( not just a single transfer period) That includes free agents. This does not include people you sign through a "scout". You may sell those in the same season you first sign them. Most of the time it is worth the risk to sign the players through a scout. I have had alot of sucsess buying low and selling high for a quick turnaround of money.

I hope that isn't the case for PC, I just hit my first transfer period in MLS and I bid on two free agents with maximum salary and 15% goal scoring bonus with intentions of making a quick profit off of them.

One way to experiment on the PC to get a feel for what players and/or teams will take for an offer and to judge what you can sell players for is at the very first of the transfer period save your profile and game. Attempt a few transactions (offer to sell/buy etc.) and quick sim the next match to see if your offers are successful or not. After a few experiments, quit your game without saving and reload the profile and game again. Do this a few times to see what you can get away with. Once you get a feel for what you want to do, then make your offers and play the game for real. Sort of qualifies as cheating, but then again, helps you avoid obvious traps such as wasting a bid on a player when their team has "too few players on their roster" (Because you would likely have known that in real life.)

Is anybody else frustrated with the slugggish pace of growth of young players? My created player (who is only 18) who i play up front for man. city played close to every game and scored 30+ goals in the first season and only went from a total rating of 73 to 74. Now in the second season the attribute upgrades cost more than last season. In fifa 07 most young players would jump 10% or so each season. Am i missing something here?

you have to upgrade players yourself. on the PS3 hit square on the main page or player growth under team management. if you want people get better you have upgrade stats that are important to their playing positions. This is a very important part of the game most of the best players of the game get to be that way through development. Coaching upgrades increase EXP that players earn.

    Strikers:
    Speed
    Finishing
    heading accuracy
    shot power

    A-mids:
    short passing
    heading accuracy
    vision
    dribbling
    ball control

I set up 3 training sessions between each game and my players were worthless the whole time. I think the sessions making them too tired. Seriously, the real guys train during the week and they are able to play on the weekends. WTF?

Yeah they do train...but most likely it is only one hard training session per week, if that, with the others being tactics, set pieces, goalkeeping, getting info from coaches and physio/massage etc.

I haven't owned a Fifa game for several years but the last one I played I was really disapointed that I didn't get new money each season for promotion.

I started with Leyton Orient and each year I moved up there was no cash infusion. Does this game provide that?

The cash comes from getting better sponsors as you move up. Their are no $$ bonuses for promotion but depending on the sponsor (you get to choose) there are tournament and leauge bonuses.
