Not played it yet but will report back after many hours of fun. ;)

EDIT: What I will say is that I only bought the 360 version last time around and while it was fun, it's great to get back to navigating the FM universe the traditional way. Demo runs very quickly as well.

I can't wait for this one, I still love playing 2007.

I haven't tried the xbox version.

Any notable new features or details prominent in the demo?

I am considering getting a manager game, and have been playing both the 07 and the 08 demos (along with FIFAM07).

I haven't noticed too many differences between 07 and 08 other than the GUI. One thing is they have separated your "business" e-mails and the News instead of having to parse through all of it. The assistant can help newbies like me if they stuck at a certain point.

There are plenty of subtle changes, but the overall flow works the same.

Slick interface -- I like it. Nothing seems to be radically different than '07, but then again I haven't been able to play more than 2-3 hours worth. Pre-game match info is much more detailed and easy to use as well. So far so good.

My question is: why not try to release the game at the start of the (European) season? The same could be said for FIFA, but I like to get into the game before half of the real season is through and teams have different players/managers/etc.

Ya. I thought the WWSM08 Demo was pretty good. Changes I can live with.

Well, they needed to at least wait until the end of the transfer season.

The transfer window ends on Aug 31st. I imagine it can take a while to get all the transfers sorted out.

    The demo? Nada.

The full games usually cost about thirty bucks.

For Americans it's $29.99 exclusively from Amazon if you want a physical copy, I believe.

Best manager I played was the EA one from a few years back with Mourinho on the cover...you could save it and then put fifa 05 or 06(can't remember) and play the actual games from the manager game.Awesome!

I haven't seen anything similar since....EA, please bring this back!

If i live in America, do I have to get the American version?? Football manager is not sold here or what? I would have to get the WWSM?

EDIT: And, are they both the same? Or is one better than the other

Same game, you can play either version. Really all it does is change the title. I have played both versions, WWSM and FM and both have worked and they're the same game.

Biggest difference? Due to exchange rates WWSM is 30 bucks and FM would be over 50 bucks plus the extra on international shipping.

Ok just bought the game yesterday. Apparently it came in the day before it was due out and the manager said put it out. That being said here are soem comments about the overall game.

The match play is quick and if you decide to do any tactical changes, you do it w/a half screw of your formation, have a small box of players for subs, and a smaller box showing play at the moment.

You get to choose why kind of transfer budget you have and if you realize you need a bit extra, you can go adjust the budget and usually the board allows some flexability.

Feeder clubs. I hate it so far. In 07, if you were an English club, the chances of you getting a club to help with work permit issues was very high. So I requested a feeder club and got the option of three irish clubs. Apparently, later on if you stay at the club long enough, you can request what types you want.

Most of the good English clubs already have some kind of deal with a club in a country that allows them to get quick citizenship. If the game doesn't reflect that, just put it in the editor.

The 23rd is correct, at least for ordering a boxed copy from Amazon.

Football Manager on the PC (or Mac in my case) is great, but IMO nothing beats FM Handheld for the PSP. The features are reduced just enough to make it quick and easy to play and I can get a season done in about 2-3 hours.

SI's releasing a new iteration of handheld before X-mas. I'll probably disappear for a few weeks when that happens... :D

Is there somewhere I can pay to download this game? I downloaded FM 07 from the net and paid for it but it doesn't seem to have that feature this year....

I'm pretty sure they'll let you download it from their website... I can't say for certain on that though.

The Amazon copy seems to get free (slow) shipping, so I guess if you're willing to wait an extra week, you can have a physical copy for 30 bucks, which isn't a bad deal.

So is it possible to buy WWSM for a PC at a store yet?

If you order from Amazon, will that be a new copy, or used?

I got an ad via email for Football Manager saying it's in stores now. Well I'm ready to play NOW.
