Freddy VS Pino Round 1 Fight !!!

Freddy Guarín y Juan Pablo Pino se enfrentaron en Francia
    7/13/2007

I think this friendly game wasn't be filmed. u find a writing resume on the official site of the club, which speak in french of Fredy http://www.asse.fr/asse-pages/asse-actualites-01.php?idArticle=2443

An another new player with the Greens: Rudolph Douala, the international cameroon right winger, who was playing in sporting portugal. The defensiv midfielder Hautcoeur is loan to Lorient.

    :)

    Welcome back, Gustav!

How does it look for Fredy with this Douala joining Asse? Will Guarin start?

The coach don't revealed his tactical option so... I just can do suppositions. But I think he will opted for a 433 with a central midfield trident Matuidi in pure 6 (like makéklélé), Perrin and Fredy in "8" (like Vieira to pursue with french national team analogy). If my supposition is just, Fredy will be more in concurrence with Landrin or Marek Heinz (who is a pure 10). that'll more clear in few weeks...

OK, please keep us informed. In your opinion, do you see Guarin developing as a player? Does he now seem up to the pace of the European game? How is his awareness? How does his own speed compare with that of his teammates?

I think skill and attitude have never been his problem!

    Quick Update:

Freddy played all 90 minutes in St. Etienne's final summer friendly against Marseille (which they lost 1-2). On the balance, Freddy got great reviews from the posters on the officiall ASSE site and nearly scored a game tying goal that was stopped by the keeper on a wonder save in the 81st minute. The few negative comments sited that he needs to improve his collective play, while the most encouraging words regarded his refined technique and excellent workrate.

Its looking very much like Freddy will be ASSE's starter come opening day next week. Terrific news!

(the french commentator, who is old and don't have a good view I think, confuse all the times with the sainté'players names)

You can say he's old, he's Thierry Rolland. When you find a def of "chauvinism" in a French dictionary, it will features a picture of Thierry Rolland. :D

I was afraid about St-Etienne's mercato (Camara, Ilunga, Hognon, Piquionne, Sablé leaving) but the newcomers are good. The team has the potential to reach a place between 5th and 10th.

    Thanks Gustav!

I watched the match and I do agree with you that Guarin's distribution is actually quite clean and accurate throughout (some of his teammates however.... I thought he was more involved and effective playing wide right in the first half than as a centremid in the second half - hopefully, he can play further out wide more during the season.

What I enjoyed watching Fredy play in this friendly was how effortlessly he is playing - he seems very comfortable and calm on the ball and also seems to know when he should go forward and take on his defender. He had one terrific play in the first half that forced a near goal.

My only concern with his performance against OM (mostly in the second half where he played in the center) was that he didn't impose his will on the match too much and instead waited for the game to come to him. We'll definitely need him to boss the midfield if he plays in the center for Colombia.

So, the french championleague began yesterday, with an opposition in monte carlo behind the Verts with Fredy and the rich royal club of Pino. Result 1-1, but in the game a clear better collectiv game for saint-etienne. Sainté show a really attractive and promising football yesterday.
Fredy played only the first time but he was really very good. He played in offensive right midfielder and the left monaco defender, Munatori, had only to make faults to stop him. The referee didn't whistle an obvious penalty for a fault against Fredy. For tactical choice, the coach change him for a forward for the second time. The french press and the supporters are really enjoyed by his performance. Only critique counter him, his lack of altruism or collective game. In the other team, Pino wasn't really dangerous.

for information the notes of L'équipe, the french reference sport newspaper (the best note for this match is 7 for Feindouno):
GUARIN (6) : très incisif sur le flanc droit. > very incisive on the right side
PINO (4,5) : trop peu de dégâts. > not enough damages

I'm very enthusiastic for Fredy and the Greens this season (but it's just the beginning...)

    :D

hum... difficult to say. It will depend of the tactical option choice by the coach, and physical form of players (the two main forwards, Ilan and Gomis are not at the top physically for the moment). Fredy can be in the right midfield in a 4-2-3-1 (like the first time against monaco), or in axial midfield in a 4-4-2 really offensive. That's a fact, Roussey, the coach, make reflexion on the game of the adversaries - for example, against monaco he put Bayall Sall a young defensive midfielder of 1m93 and 90kg, quasi not use last season, for countering the physical impact of the forwards adversaries (Piquionne and Koller) -.
I don't know very well the next adversary, Valencienne, so I cannot make plan about what the coach could imagine... But Fredy will play this season, I'm sure.

in late - sorry... - a link to download a video resume of Monaco-Sainté (in french)
    http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=EKPC7Y5Q

There is a new player in Sainté: Lasse Nilsson, a suede forward who was playing in Heereven (holland). There is a real renovation of the team this year: 8 departures and 8 news players. A lot of young big potential players : Payet, Gigliotti, Matuidi all french international sub21, in more of Dabo (french Sub21 too) and the revelation of the last year the goal scorer Gomis (who's finally stay), Perrin (the new captain at 22 years old) and the young but ya international senegalese really physically strong Bayall Sall. And some news players more experimented like Varrault (from the club which support Catel ;) ), Tavlaridis, an unknown bresilian but who played so good for the first match Nivaldo, Douala and so now Nilsson. Maybe the club would search a wing back left, but the coach say that's not a priority, and I think there's no so much money after all these transfers...
A really good thing is the club keep Gomis and Feindouno, the unknown african ronaldinho (I'm exagerating a little bit but he's a real very good player). 3 players more could going maybe : Perquis, F. Diawara and Marek Heinz (who is an extraordinary good technician, an incredible left foot, but he is so slow and energyless...).
The team look really interresting with a good technic level, a good fightin' spirit, and more equilibrated than last year. There is a chance to finish in european's cup qualified places (but there are a lot of teams who are chances too...).

Saint-Etienne's strongest problem is the managers: the duo of chairmans Caiazzo-Romeyer is inept, whether the matter is chosing a coach for a long term (at Saint-Etienne, the odds are high that a coach achieving a good season is fired) or considering the transfer of an excellent player (Piquionne).

Saint-Etienne needs a unique, strong president as Aulas for Lyon or Martel for Lens

Gustav - Congrats on a great result against Valenciennes!

Please tell us how Freddy and Sanchez performed. As you know Freddy has been called to play for Colombia next week, so we're eager to know how he is playing!

Sanchez did a good defensive job with the Brazilian Jeovanio but couldn't bring danger ahead.

Yes a good result :D In fact sainté played better in Monaco last week than yesterday, I think 'cause VA have a more strong collectivism. And in this aspect Sanchez is pretty good, he didn't have a lot of chances to play offensiv 'cause the both greens "recuperators" were omnipotents yesterday. Sanchez have to learn but he look an interesting potential with good technik and a good vision of the game.
A good vision of the game which is not the power point of Fredy. I'm little bit angry with him, 'cause he have a so good technik and physik impact but he don't play with others. He must learn that, really, if he do he will be terrific. He enter for the last half an hour yesterday and he was good but he can be better. I'm strong in my judgment with him, but he must progress now !
I didn't know that he's calling to play with national team. It's really cool! And I'm criticizing him but he's in good condition physically. And he'll be so enthusiast to play with Colombia. A good events for him!

to see the goals. On the third, we don't see it but it's Fredy who is in the origin of the recuperation of the ball...

PS Catel, I'm not agree with you for the sainté's presidents, but it's not really the topic to speak about that... ;)
