Moutinho's first goal was extremely lucky and his second should of been caught by the keeper since the cross was low enough to be knocked out.

Well, this was a match reminiscent of the one a few weeks back. SPorting dominates the first half, and looks like they will be up by a half dozen at the break. In the second half, they allow the opposition back into the game, but not enough to lose the victory.

I think Sporting did BM a favour and took the foot off of the accelerator. They looked rather sluggish in the second half, and wanted the game over and done with. Overall, Sporting was the better team and deserved the victory. Moutinho is looking more and more like the leader of the team, and picked a great time to start scoring some goals. Djalo works hard, and has so many chances to score. He needs to start putting some away. Nani, Veloso, Liedson - all of the usual suspects played well.

Back in the final of the Taça for the first time since 2002. Hopefully it won't be the only trophy that they have to show for this season...

I've been Lucho's biggest critic as many can attest here on this forum, he is out of shape, only does OK in the 1st half and drags himself thru the entire 2nd half. I won't be shedding any tears if Porto finds a buyer for him this Summer.

You know what I tell my kids on my team, if you don't shoot the ball for sure it will never go in, so take a crack at it.

Luck is part of the game, and a lot of great goals do come off miss kicks.
Only the announcers thought he didn't try shooting. I ask from that position why would he hit with outside of his left foot?

The second goal was a beauty, no even Baia in his good years could get that one.

He played the whole second half since Romagnoli got insured just before the half.

Didn't have a great compared to last week, but the ref didn't help by blowing stupid fouls against him that never existed.

Had one great opportunity to score, but he tried to finesse it on the near post, and the keeper made a great save.

The second goal was not that great, it was a culmination of defensive errors, Eduardo's positioning was well-off, and the defenders should've been closed down and we should've had Alcaraz on the line which is his main duty in those situations. A nice header, but to call it a beauty is a bit of an over-rating.

As far as what you tell your players. No offense but that's the wrong idea to invoke. I've seen too many shots from 30 yards out that go well wide when a player could've easily passed to the wing or up front and piled on more pressure and actually create a goal. If you're playing football in a knock it about and hope it goes in kind of way, then sure, take every 2% chance of a goal you got, but if you're trying to choke the life of your opposition, you don't waste possession, you manhandle the defence until they can't cope.

É por estas e por outras que não se pode dar um bocado de confiança, vocês vêem-se a 4 pontos do Campeão, ainda estão em bicos de pés a olhar para cima e mesmo assim já pensam que são alguém…

    Sporting hiding something???!!!
Beira-Mar is complaining about the total attendance numbers brought out by Sporting (21,894) when clearly at least according to the TV there seems to have been a bigger crowd. BMar is now going to the FPF (Portuguese Federation) in order to get the proper and official documentaton for this game...

All goals come from some type of defensive error(s) from the opponent, otherwise all games would end in 0-0.

Looks like it will be Sporting C.P vs Belenenses in the final... to add another chapter to the traditional rivalry that yeah we all know has died down over the years since Belenenses went downhill have their glory days of the 1820s:D

will be a tough one, Belenenses has a good team and are winning games and are in fourth, and will no doubt get a result against Team Quaresma +10 this weekend to claim the title of the best Blue colored team in Portugal:D .

But the ones made by our defence were to the point where it gifted Sporting a goal. And not every goal is as a result of a defensive error.

This is the best they could do? Argue over the attendance figures. It was a Wednesday night and the game started at 9PM they should be lucky that any SCP fans came out to watch them play Beira Mar.

After the first 15 Minutes it seemed like SCP was playing the BM "B" Team.:D

As for the Tripeiros, they should keep very quiet and not make any noise. Since SCP took care of them they should be very happy they are still in first and have a chance to win somthing.

    Holy Lord Djalo is fast....

His breakaway speed before putting in the cross was blistering. Impressive left footed cross as well.

Sporting vs our famous lisbon rivals whos name starts with the letter B:D .

will be a tough final, and Belenenses seems to be on fire lately.

Djalo is fast, and speedy and he is a handfull for defenders even though he doesnt score as many goals as he should and needs to work on his shooting. its his rookie season with SCP and he has impressed. He showed his potential when he headed the ball in against FC Porto, the team with the Brick Wall duo of Pepe and Helton!!

I think it was an impressive header by Moutinho, he really did get high in the air, and enough power to get the job down. However, a better keeper might have gotten a touch to it, whether that would have prevented in from going in is obliviously difficult to tell.

The first goal I am a little skeptical. I can't really tell is he meant to shoot at the net, or cross it, because he had Liedson coming in full tilt unmarked.
