Copa America is one of the hidden gems of soccer....You get to see the best for so cheap.

At last copa America it was so cheap to buy tickts. Basically all you do walk up to the scalpers and buy them for 20 bucks.

Dont worry about fake tickets...You tell them to go with you to the gate. And that you'll pay them as soon as the entry guy sees that the ticket is legit. The people are so poor that they wont hesitate to do what you ask.

You can buy them also at department stores (wierd but those double as ticket agencies) but they charge full price which can be anywhere from 60 to 80 bucks.

They need to make it feasable for everyone to buy them as I have my hotel booked and plane ticket booked as well. I do not want to trust to buy them there especially if they are going to be sold out

Is there a special Venezuelan Visa exception for Copa America, because my friends who were in SA tell me that you can only get a 24 hr visa in Venezuela to fly in and out basically. Algiuen puede arrojar luz sobre esto??

Check the embassy online, but I doubt it is accurate for US or Mexican citizens.

I just wanted to clarify this...
I know in LatinAmerica there's many places where somebody will sell you his mom for $5, but don't expect everywhere in LatinAmerica to be that poor.

    Take a look at this.
This is the price of the tickets for the games Venezuela-Uruguay and Venezuela-Colombia during the 2006 WC qualifiers.

    http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/print?id=319694&type=story

The only good thing is that people have a hard time buying dollars
and some will pay 50-100% more than the exchange rate for a dollar.

    http://espanol.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/070124/negocios/negocios_economia_venezuela_cambio_sol

I just want the Venezuelan folks to make sure there are some type of stewards to organize the seating. In Peru 04 CA, although I had payed for top "reserved" seating, everyone and there mama was sitting in my spot! In fact, as I looked around, you knew most of those folks had payed for "general admission".

When I went to speak to an "attendant" (1 for each section of 10,000 people), he was like " you snooze you lose!"... I couldn't believe it! I know I could've slipped him $5 and had a seat but it was still annoying!

    Yeah, that's true,
I would try not to exchange the dollars at the airport.

    About the sitting
I was reading that they are planning to number all the seats in all the stadiums.

Well it is technically ilegal to pay with other currencies, and even more so to sell dollars in the black market, although I am sure there could be enforcement exceptions for the event, it is a safer bet to exchange your currrency at airports at the 2145:1 rate, and exchange what you will need since getting dollars back is not possible either. (unless you are business)

    To my amigos Bolivarianos ;)

I'm looking to get to watch live the 1st round of Colombia matches - vs Paraguay - vs Argentina - vs USA -
My itinerary has me arriving at about 9:30 pm on 6/28 -
    Leaving morning of July 6th.

I'm looking for your honest perspective. How best would you plan this trip if you were in my shoes.

    1st 2 games are in Maracaibo - 6/28 and 7/2.
Last game is 7/5 in Barquisitemo.

Looks like I'm flying solo. My Colombian buddies in the states are either p* whipped or broke or both :) to commit.

The USNT fans are getting their act together but it's still way disorganized. I need to make this trip a reality asap! Thanks in advance.

So you are arriving at 930 pm in Maracaibo and you need hotel information or is that done. Its going to be pretty hard looking for hotels at that time (probably around 11 pm).

venezuelan yellow pages will do you some good.

On 6/29 you have plenty of time to head to the Terminal and buy your ticket to Barquisimeto.

I was thinking of staying in Catia La Mar overnight and then grabbing a flight to Maracaibo the next morning. I'm not sure if there's a connecting flight after 9:30pm...

    What do you think?
