Well I don't think we will pull off another 8-0, but I think we will still win this one big, say 4-0.

Did you guys read that the Azeris have somethig like 5 naturalized Brazilians, a Ukrainian and a Serb (?) on their team? Sounds like a desperate attempt to avoid another drubbing from Poland...I'm thinking 5:0 Poland this time....

Yeah I saw their squad listing on uefa.com. Leftovers from the Brasilian beer league are not gonna help them much if at all.

BTW some new data from the FIFA bureau of mis-information:

no offense, you come off pretty arrogant....so do the rest of you with your predictions......i guess a qualifying win against Portugal does that

I hope the players on our team do not think like any of you, because in modern football you have to repsect all of your opponents.....considering we have a tight pool there is no room for error here, losing a possible 5 points in our first 2 games does that.....we need maximum points from the next 4 games, its no time to just think "hey all we have to do is show up to the game"......macedonia recently tied england, and cyprus tied germany........

if we have an off night, i think we can pretty much lose to anyone......

Azerbaijan is obviously not the strongest nation in football, and we should win if all of our players put in a strong effort.....Armenia will probably be a little harder.....but i am just saying you guys should be a little more humble and only worry about our own team....putting other teams down is a joke, because Poland gets put down by a lot of the other bigger footballing nations and its just plain classless (and i know you guys dont like that)....dont be another classless cocky Polish fan, because it shows lack of knowledge about the sport....

there is nothing wrong with predicting a Polish victory here right, but don't do it in a disrespective manner......

we are all Polaks and brothers here, but just dont act like that...peace guys....

i dunno tell me if im right or wrong i think our team is alot better then we were 2 years ago . i dont know how im arrogant but thats ur opinion . lets look at ou goal scorers from that day fronkowski had 3 goals. we know have matusiak he might a lil rusty from no playing time in seria a but hes better then frankowski. kososwski hes been replaced by blaszczykowski whos still young alot better then kosowski ever was. krzynowek hes now unfortunatlly been relegated to a sub. saganowski is not on the team i think he should stil be a sub. i cn compare the whole starting lineup if u want me too but i wont. dudek replaced by boruc enough said. basczynski reaplaced by golanski or wasilewski . bak still there. bak partener back then cant remember replaced by radomski. zewlakow still there. kosowski replacd by before mentioned blaszczykowski sobolewski might still start next week lewandowski hopefully replaced by gargula start gargula against a pathetic opponet like azerbaijan. krzynowek replaced by smolarek no brainer whos better now. zurawski to start and frankowski replaced by matusiak . i i dunno call me arrogant but next week i think our lineup will be alot stronger then 2 years ago yea they can have an off day i dont think they will. or only downfall could theyll e to cocky before the game like they supposedlly were in the world cup before ecuador and got beat bad but beenhakker wont let that happen. azerbiajan sucks compare carlos alberto to whoever coaches them now hes a world class coach lol im telling 8-0 again or even more 13-0 like germany did o san marino just kidding

I think my 4-0 prediction is respectable and definitely likely, considering their squad has not improved much since last time we met them, while ours has. As for the "beer league brasilian additions" comment, it was not meant to be disrespectful to the opponents, but to emphasize that I dont think they will make much of a difference. In retrospect i guess I might have phrased things a bit more PC, but what da heck, we get so few opportunities to gloat :). Point well taken though. In the end I hope its a good game and that we get a solid win.

yes our team is better now, we seem to be motivated better, but putting other teams down is wrong in my mind......calling their player rejects or beer leaguers and such things is not very respectful, that is what i meant by you guys being arrogant in this particular sense......however, your analysis of being better on paper than them is accurate, but we know games aren't played on paper......sometimes games go where you get 5-6 great opportunities to score and the ball just won't go in, 0-0 and we are screwed right.....2 points lost in a tight pool......that is all i am trying for you guys to be mindful of.....

anyways, no hard feelings, saying stuff like our program is still much better than theres so if we come out hard we should win comftorably is fine.....but we should never be too comftorble and take anyone lightly, because not winning any of the next 4 matches would be a disaster for us......remember against Northern Ireland in wc 2006 qualifiers where their team just barred down and we won 1-0 in the 86th minute, well my guess is that one of our next 4 games may go this way......where we have to grind out a result.......

anyways good luck to us, and dont worry, i was just trying to get us to be more respectful and mindful....

nice,
cheers chlopaki :D

Serbia 4	10
Poland 5	10
Portugal 4	7
Belgium 5	7
Kazakhstan 5	2
Armenia 4	1
Azerbaijan 4	1
Most recent results for Azerbaijan:

11.03.2007 Azerbaijan 1:0 Kyrgyzstan (Alma-TV Cup in Kazakhstan)
09.03.2007 Kazakhstan 1:0 Azerbaijan (Alma-TV Cup in Kazakhstan)
07.03.2007 Azerbaijan 1:0 Uzbekistan (Alma-TV Cup in Kazakhstan)
07.02.2007 Uzbekistan 0:0 Azerbaijan (friendly)

Two from each group. It makes 14 and Austria and Switzerland qualify to the finals as hosts.

Both fullbacks, who were first team members in last Poland's games, will not play against Azerbaijan and Armenia. Pawel Golanski (Korona Kielce, right defender) and Grzegorz Bronowicki (Legia Warszawa, left or right defender) were sidelined from the squad because of injuries. Marcin Baszczynski and Grzegorz Bartczak were called up instead.

Baszczynski is renowned player who has already 35 caps for Poland and was regular on right back during Euro 2004 quals, WC 2006 quals and WC 2006 finals. Bartczak has never played for Poland before, he wasn't even called up in experimental, domestic league players' squad to face United Arab Emirates and Estonia, but he impressed in Orange Ekstraklasa for Zaglebie Lubin, where he plays at right back.

I predict that in this situation Michal Zewlakow will start at left back, with Jacek Bak and Mariusz Lewandowski/Arkadiusz Radomski in center and Wasilewski on the right. It also seems to be possible that Beenhakker would field Jacek Krzynowek, usually left midfielder on the left back, as we are definitely favourites of upcoming games.

Im not sure if this happens often, but I find it odd that UEFA changes the ref for our match v. Azerbaijan just a few days before the match. Hopefully there is are no BS calls during the game.

I don't remember situation like this in past, but maybe if it didn't concern Poland, I wouldn't even know about it.

Smolarek out of both matches due to injury; Krzynowek injured too.

I am glad that Smolarek's injury happened now, and not later, when we we will really need him. Against Azer and Arm we have more than enough capable wingers/strikers who can replace Smolarek. Ideally I'd like to see Jelen replace Smolarek in midfield and see Sagan called up as a striker.

Didn't Saganowski score two nice goals against Azerbaijan two years ago? I don't know why Leo seems to have something against him. The man has very good pace and a striker's instinct.

isn't he older than Zurawski??? and Zurawski is starting to get up there in age too i thought. i like how Leo is starting to give the younger players a shot. because he is getting the team ready for not only the EURO, but also the next WC

No, Zurawski is about two years older than Sagan. I like that Leo is searching for new talent (who wouldn't), but this is a good time to give Saganowski a chance. He will still be in his prime for the EC, assuming we make it, whereas Zurawski might be over the hill then.
