DaMarcus Beasley should play for Manchester City on their trip to the south coast to take on Portsmouth -- but in what capacity? Will he start, or be a super-sub? With injuries and manager Stuart Pearce's squad rotation policies, one can never tell...

Saturday's late game is live on FSC in the U.S., and the third match of my live triple-header here as well, all featuring YA's in action. Live at 9 a.m. PT/12 noon ET (but at 4 a.m. here in Melbourne, perhaps too late for me to stay up after witnessing the other two games).

    1-0 portsmouth early on.

Granted I follow City very little, but why is Pearce sitting Samaras and Beasley? They seem like 2 of City's best attacking players

OK. I'm rather irritated right now. Why did Man City refuse to release Beasley when the don't start him.

He played poorly last game, BUT THEY HAD HIM PLAYING LWB.

    He's an attacking player, period.

So, we call up Convey, probably to Readings delight because they want him to get some match fitness and they dont have the time to give him.

We don't call Beasley because he seems match fit but Citeh wants him to stay and yet he doesnt break into the starting XI for this game??

Citeh always seems to look terrible when he and Samaras arent in the game. They lack any vision and creativity.

I was half-ass listening to the game, I wonder who they hell they were talking about because it certainly isn't Pompey. Oh well, maybe I should pay attention!

Your right, the commentators don't seem to impressed either, "City look like their playing in a practice match."

that's right- what a waste. dmb needs to regain his mojo...and that aint happening on D or encouraging the habitual passback.

I'm pretty sure the players couldn't give a shit at this point. They're not in real danger of being relegated and they haven't a chance to win a spot in Europe or anything.

But seriously, I'm now convinced playing for a crappy team in a good league is worse for you than playing on a good team in a crappy league. You can practically smell the miasma through the TV when watching West Ham and City matches, and I think it's hurting both Spector and Beasley. I'd much rather see those two play in MLS, and play an attacking style of play where you can actually think proactively and learn more about winning and playing with some expectations.

Instead, Spector learns how to play desperate, ugly football, and Beasley learns how to play a vacuum. That's fantastic.

Beasley comes on. City scores 3 seconds later.

    Coincidence? :D

I was practically bored to tears by this match....

Beasers been lively the minute or so he's been on. Surging forward for a bit before losing it

Beasley at Left Back? Oh those tricky Citizens....

Portsmouth manages to not score in a scramble on where it was easier to score. Maybe they should shoot at place where the goal keeper is not located

From the video game "Street Fighter". It's one of Ryu or Ken's special moves - pretty funny that he was doing it with Jihai Sun. I'm a little embarrassed that I know what the reference was to, but it was a classic nintendo/super nintendo game.

Corradi ignores a WIDE OPEN Beasley on to the left in the box, to lay back for Michael Ball to blast wide from 25 yards out
