Blatantly ripping off a thread going on right now on the Barra's board - what is your favorite moment or picture from this season?

I'll get things going my saying my two favorite moments of the year were traveling to the Swamp for the first time and coming home with a win and then throwing my girlfriend in the air when Gomez scored against NY at home to send us through.

I am apparently not alone in not remembering anything about the 2006 season :D

I think one of my favorite things was the SE meet-the-team event, that was pretty neat. Although I wasted that whole time getting to know Dyachenko, which forced the team to give him away to Toronto ......

I also really enjoyed (much more than I figured I would) the Anacostia River Clean-Up day - that was a worthwile way to spend a few hours.

The bus trips to NJ (except the destination) were fun, as were the flights to Chicago and Dallas (for the Cup).

Watching you bozos get trashed at the tailgates is always fun too :D

Hate to admit it, but it may have been watching in person those other Washingtonians in Seattle rise to their feet and cheer our beloved Men In Black as they outhustled some overpaid La Liga boys :)

The coolest thing was being part of the supporters shield presentation. I quite like the reserve league games, I can show up and not have to do anything except watch (regular games days are just a lot of work).

Watching six years of Galaxy luck all come crashing down on them at once (except against us, of course).

I would have to say my favorite memory from this season was my first United game in Chicago this July, getting to meet all the fun SE and Barra's was great, plus how can you ever forget the crazy downpour that happened about 20 minutes before kickoff, just made things great. Of course my other great memory was the Supporters Shield presentation at MLS Cup. Hope to make my first memory with the SE's at RFK this season!! I know we can be a great team again and hopefully lift that Cup one more time :)

I am sorry, I don't recall anything about precipitation at that match

Right, it was a picture perfect day for a match, and we weren't standing in puddles in the stands either.

Yes, indeed. Note to the folks working on the plans for Poplar Point... please install appropriate drainage for the stands as well as the field

This is the best picture ever.

I have personally worked dozens of tailgate grills, but every stinking time I was getting beer or hitting the outhouse when it was picture taking time.

Here is proof that I am a grilling machine, AND that I can elbow little kids in the head in order to catch a free t-shirt launched out of an adult-sized slingshot.

    I AM the MAN!

    :)

Those damn concrete stands just don't bounce right.

K apologized for United ekeing out a 1-1 tie that game, but I had a blast. It's nice that my first road trip in 11 years of supporting United featured Logan Pause collecting a second yellow for trying to block an Adu throw-in.

    Pure Comedy. :D

oh, it drained just fine - from the top of the stands right down to the first two rows (where it then stopped draining completely).
At least it didn't drain like the old Foxboro - I remember in '96 water coming out of pipes from the top levels spilling out like a waterfall onto the walkway and then down into the lower sections
Just drain the whole stadium into the visiting locker-room :)

Worst part of the Chicago rain was that all the forecasters said no chance of rain that day, then the sky turned black and it poured like a MoFo.

That's for sure... I had a feeling we were going to be in trouble as the clouds gathered to blot out the sun during the pre-game warmups. Amazingly, Mathai was still able to take pictures while I was just trying (and failing) to find a way to protect my camera.

The fact that it did the SAME DAMN thing on the other Chicago trek was enough to call the stadium cursed. Not only rain but heavy duty lightning crackling all over the place leading to an extended break from the action! At least I was smart enough to bring rain gear and leave the camera behind.

Upon further reflection my favorite moment(s) of the season was being able to play hooky from church with my son on Sundays by attending the very family friendly reserve team matches.

The price was not only right, but the memories, a la the old MasterCard commerical - priceless!

While I was busy attending to the breakfast cravings of the crowd, not only did he get a chance to knock it around with the team, but also was able to practice his favorite "DC United" chants :)

    Happy Holidays to all!

I'll never forget when he started the "F-you ref" chant.

And here I thought it was only his kicking form that was so good. :D

Reserve games are great...It's fun to make "snarky" comments without the emotional investment of the 1st team.

His form looks pretty good. However, his footplace in relative position to the ball needs to be less behind the ball otherwise, He'll find his shots going to his left or hooking. Also, his arms are backwards. Right?

Merry Christmas - my fellow junkie (junky?) - to you and your family.

Best thing of the season was coming back from World Cup to find DC so far in the league they could tank the rest of the season and still win the Supporter Shield...

    :)

Worst part of the season, coming back from the World Cup and watching DC United tank the rest of the season... :(
