The New York Red Bulls are a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise that play in Giants Stadium of the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The team colors are red and white, and used to be red, black, and gold. The franchise has been in the league since its inaugural season, 1996. From 1996 to 2006 they were known as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, and later just the Metrostars, before being re-branded following a takeover by Red Bull AG prior to the 2006 season.
