FC Barcelona, commonly referred to simply as
Barça (Barsa), is a sports club located in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Although they are mainly known for their footballing section, the club also competes in a variety of other sports, most notably basketball and handball.
THE BEGINNING
After placing an advert in a local magazine called
Los Deportes on 22 October 1899, 22-year old Hans-Max "Joan" Gamper presided over a meeting at the Gimnasio Solé on 29 November that included eleven players who had responded to the magazine ad.
