Miguel Calero succumbed today from complications stemming from a cerebral thrombosis he had sustained a couple of weeks ago. The Colombian International goalkeeper was a mainstay for the Cafeteros for more than a decade, winning the 2001 Copa America when Colombia hosted. He also won a handful of titles with Pachuca, including the Copa Sudamericana title, the only South American club title won by a Mexican side, in 2006.
CONMEBOL have announced that there will be a moment of silence in honor of the Colombian before tonight's first leg of the Sudamericana final between Tigre and Sao Paolo.
After hanging up his gloves, Calero had been working with Pachuca as the goal-keeping coordinator for the institution.
