Top Twenty World Cup Goals! (Part 2)

Here's the second part of my list of the top twenty World Cup goals. Enjoy numbers 13-7!

13 Eder (BRAZIL v Soviet Union 1982)

In this game the Brazil team had unexpectantly fallen behind to the resiliant soviets. Socrates had equalised and then Eder got the ball just outside the area, flicked it up and blasted it into the right corner, leaving the keeper with no chance.

12 Gheorghe Hagi (ROMANIA v Colombia 1994)

Hagi was one of the best players in Europe on the 90's and was at his best in the 94 World Cup. This amazing lob against Colombia looks like a fluke when you first see it, but watch the replay and you see his eyes are fixed on goal.

11) Joe Cole (ENGLAND v Sweden 2006)

England didn't really have much to cheer about in the 2006 World Cup. They were lacklustre for most of the tournament but this was one of the few moments of genuine quality that England fans can cheer about.

10) Josimar (BRAZIL v Northern Ireland)

Yes, Northrn Ireland made it to a World Cup too! Josimar was only playing in this tournament as Brazils regular right back was injured, but scored this rocket.

9) Carlos Alberto (BRAZIL v Italy 1970)

This is an example of the ultimate team goal from the team regarded as the greatest of all-time. A truly beautiful passing move was capped when Pele played the ball out wide and Carlos Alberto appeared from nowhere to smash the ball into the bottom corner.

8) Maxi Rodriguez (ARGENTINA v Mexico 2006)

This was the best game of the 2006 World Cup in my opinion, Mexico gave everything in this game against the Argentina team that had looked so good in the group stages and it took this extra-time wonder-goal to seperate the teams.

7) Pele (BRAZIL v Sweden 1958)

This World Cup is remembered for the emergence of the 17-year-old Pele. This goal in the final was superb. He chests the ball down whilst holding off a defender then flicks it over an oncoming defender and volleys into the corner.
