MLS News & Analysis is pretty much treating Gareth Wheeler like Joe Pesci at the end of "Casino," so you would think piling on at this point would be superfluous. What can I say? Dead horses infuriate me.
Might as well have said "It's FOOTBALL not SOCCER" while he was at it.
Well, as long as Eurosnobs are saying the same things over and over, I will too. Once again:
Suggesting promotion and relegation in MLS is like suggesting we change the national anthem to "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." There are probably lots of good arguments for and against such a move, but it's never ever ever going to happen, so it's pointless to talk about it.
The Maple Leafs will be relegated before Toronto FC. In fact, I'll bet that promotion and relegation gets officially abolished - not just de facto abolished, like in Mexico, but officially - in some big famous traditional league before MLS relegates a team. Feel free to quote me.
Well, back to the big game in LA this weekend. Of course, I'm talking about USC and UCLA in the NCAA women's soccer tournament. Lauren Cheney against Amy Rodriguez. Should be a great game. Shame no one will watch, since soccer fans reject playoffs. (I think I read that somewhere, I forget where.)
