According to internet reports this morning DISH Network has removed 24 hour soccer channel GolTV from it's lineup
Tuning in to it's position on the DISH grid gives you this message:
“GolTV has removed this channel after asking for unreasonable terms to renew the contract and we’re working to solve the problem.”
Furthermore, apparently to prove they're serious, DISH is offering both Setanta and Fox Sports Espanol on a free trial basis.
The Cobra Kai Dojo has acquired GK Zach Thornton, who has been in witness protection with NewYorkRedBulls after a career that once had him touted as the successor to FriedelKeller, IN RETURN FOR THE DREADED "FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS"
In this case, the "future consideration" is mostly that NYRB won't have to pay him to weigh down the bench any more.
In other Cobra Kai news, Sensei Preki - who apparently was losing face in the locker room as the only guy in there who hasn't been suspended yet this season - WILL BEGIN SERVING A TWO GAME BANISHMENT TO THE STANDS after getting sent off in a Superliga match.
This is of course in keeping with the general theme round there, as Chivas has racked up the most fouls in the league - the next closest offender is 23 fouls behind - and is tied for the league lead in red cards (four) and tied for second in yellow cards (35).
Jesse Marsch thinks the problem is that they have "a reputation" and referees punish them unfairly.
On the other hand, one could say that the REASON they have "a reputation" is because they're a bunch of thugs, and Jesse is the leader of the band.
In other bludgeoning news EVERTON STRIKER JAMES VAUGHN IS SORRY that he took down the Fire's Daniel Woodard during a friendly last week, earning him and instant send off.
The concern now is that the USSF may decide to report the infraction to the FA which could, in turn, suspend him for the start of the EPL season.
If I were him, I wouldn't worry too much; the USSF can't even report stuff like, oh I don't know, say, Blanco getting all medieval during a US Open Cup match so that MLS can suspend him.
But then again, the Prem actually has some standards. MLS just has tickets to sell.
That's not to say that MLS won't suspend Mr White since he will indeed sit out today's match against - here's some irony - the Cobra Kai's due to the dreaded "accumulation of yellows" rule, the latest of which was for dissent during the KC match last week.
Maybe Preki and Tomec can share a bucket of popcorn.
Nate Jaqua and Chad Barret will both start for their new teams tonight.
Jaqua has of course had a few days to get acclimated. Barrret, on the other hand, will probably have to ask directions to the men's room.
And finally the other half of the Cooper/Toja two-headed transfer rumor came to fruition last night as the Colombian midfielder was sold to Bucharest Steaua on Friday.
Just a shame all those giveaway "Toja Wigs" will end up at the bottom of the closet.
